Not like anyone here will buy one, but . . .

ALPINA is to BMW as Shelby is to Ford. Towards the end of last week, BMW dealers in the US received some info sheets on the BMW ALPINA B7, a supercharged, 500-hp variant on the BMW 7-Series due in June. 516 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm feeding through a 6-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted shift controls contributes to the B7's 4.8-second 0-60 time. Thanks to a unique combination of VALVETRONIC & a mechanically-driven radial compressor created by ALPINA in 2003, the B7 achieves very low fuel consumption in addition to high power. As with the Z8-based 2003 BMW ALPINA V8, BMW will ship cars to German tuner company ALPINA, ALPINA will modify the cars & ship them back to BMW, & BMW will sell them as a regular BMW model with full BMW warranty. In 1964, BMW was impressed with the quality of a Weber dual carburetor for the BMW 1500 (introduced in 1961) developed by young Burkard Bovensiepen in his father's office-machine factory -- so impressed that BMW continued to honor warranty on its cars that had been modified with that carb setup. So began the 42-year relationship between BMW & ALPINA. In 1971, ALPINA persuaded BMW to campaign a lightweight version of the BMW 3.0 CS in Touring Car racing, so BMW put ALPINA in charge of the lightweight BMW 3.0 CSL Coupé project. In 1978, the BMW ALPINA B7 Turbo, based on the BMW 5-Series, was the world's fasted sedan. US dealers will receive a combined total of 200 B7s -- making the B7 more than twice as rare here as ALPINA's Z8.

Are there any pre-release pics of this beast? I can't even imagine a 4.8 second 7er.

This is a beauty, still has the old school Alpina wheels too! Looks cool on the 7.

Damn that engine kicks ass! Wonder if they will do something with the 760...not like it needs it...
