I went from an '04 STi i just dumped all my money into it except the motor. And the only thing I miss is the brembos and how well it handled. but with about 1/8th of the money i put into the STi's suspension my '91 E30 318is with M50 feels the same, I just need a BBK for the intial bite I miss from the STi.

I liked the car. It was big, comfy, lots of room in the back for the womenz.
BUT a piston rod snapped at 110mph and shot a hole through the iron block.
Fixed that up but later borrowed an E30.320 and the rest is history.

Great in the snow and slush, but kind of boring on track. Went back to my trusty E30 318is on TMS J-Stock suspension for track use:



Now, the E30 has been replaced by the 190 Cosworth on Ground Control:

I sold my 01 M5 which was a daily driver. Chose to keep an 88 325ix which I originally bought for a winter car. Last year I restored a 70 Cuda. I sold the 2001 M5 and kept the ix as my daily driver. No question that I made the right choice. I love e30's. I've owned it for 10 years and still love to drive it every single day.
