YEah you said it, "Pinging" but after putting back the head I don't have any more Knock or Piniging...I just dropped bigger injectors @ 9-10 PSI and runing with out pinging...I was pinging just because I turned my boost at 9 PSI but with my stock poor flow rate injectors, even with the FMU wasn't enough flow...my baby! ;)

I think there are only two ways to go about this.

      1. Turbo the current m20. I believe our S2 system will produce 300rwhp. It's not cheap but it's the least expensive way to a really big HP.
      2. Install a S50/S52. Probably more expensive for alot less power but one of the sweetest motors BMW has ever built in a nice light package.

To me it's all a matter of drving style.

I don't think the M30 swap is easy or practical and unless turbo charged it's a dog.

i wouldnt call the s50/s52 the best motor bmw built. i dont even think its a good motor for a race car. they have too many week points. AND they are pretty limited as far as real world NA power goes. But dont ge me wrong, it is a GREAT motor, but it definitly not the best.

I think I said "one of the sweetest". Not best nor strongest. My discussion was limited to a street car as well.

            Three reasons,
            1. Its a relativly cheap task that produces great results when done correctly.
            2. You get to keep all your original wiring..
            3. It is a great learning experience and extremely satisfying.

And doesn't it make you feel great when someone in an american muscle car pulls up to you and gives you that look like "who are you kidding, my car will toast yours", and you show him what 250 RWHP in a 2300 pound car will do his eyesore?

For me it is all about the learning..

Most of our cars are more like 2,700-2,800 lbs :)

I went to the BMW Zentrum in Spartanburg and the stats list for the DTM E30 M3 race car said the curb weight was 2,177lbs. I thought that was very impressive.

but no floor, a diffrent gas tank, and nothing but a guage cluster and a seat. i dont think there is a single person on this board that has a car under 2400 lbs. (unless its stripped and not driveable)

                          Stuart B, yes and yes.

Shahe, it also had the build in hydraulic lifts on all 4 corners, I bet that adds some weight.
