i thought that the synthetic oil for my car was expensive, but one of my buddies who runs a 6.4l powerstroke buys shell rotella t6 oil... usually runs about $25-28 a gallon, seen it as low as $19. not too crazy, but the thing is, those diesels take around 5 gallons of oil.

        yes. FIVE. FUCKING. GALLONS. :O

Delvac - 1 that run in my Duramax is about 35 bucks a gallon, and it holds 2 1/2 of them. Much better product than the T6, In big over the road trucks with proper filter changes and replenishment at those intervals it was engineered to run up too 100k mi change intervals per Mobil One that is.

The Ford 6.4L Diesel Holds 15 quarts with the big ass filter thats 3 gallons and 3 quarts. NOT 5 FUCKING GALLONS None of the Pick up truck diesels have ever held 5 gallons, IIRC out of all of them fords have traditionally had the highest oil fill capacity and they generally have ranged for 12-15 quarts across all their diesel variants

isnt that partially how P cars derive some of their cooling with large oil capacities and big engine oil coolers????

Interesting. Why, then, do most 'race' motors, in reality, run 0W-x oils then??

I mainly posted it for the chart at the end with the zinc and phosphate numbers. If you are curious about why you should run x oil in what car, call them up.
I am running VR1 20-50 because both them and my engine builder told me to. Countless 8500+ rpm shifts and my motor is still good, and my turbo still has no shaft play running 35psi. (this is all in my talon not an e30, although my room mate does run VR1 20-50 in his s52 powered e30.
