Figured Christian would figure that one out sooner or later. :)

Autocrosses in that thing were hell, I had to downshift to first for any large change of direction at slow speed or it just bogged.

what i was taught is that most cars don't like being shifted into first unless stopped or going really really slow.
so imo, don't do it unless you want to risk screwing something up.
like asubimmer said, under 15mph is when he can put it into first and thats slow in my books. keep it in second.

never really felt the need - I think 2nd gear will pull fine and the time spent trying to rev match would be wasted by me, at least.

i actually heel-toe every down shift in just regular driving to practice. hell i even mastered clutchless shifting on the street. im too scared to do that in autox tho.

Lightening the flywheel and also using a higher gear ration can help with heel-toeing to first....

I find it pretty easy to do in my m20... but its not moving fast...

besides it IS just as effective to just stay in second for me considering alot of times I can start my car off in second and even third if I want...

Just clutch kick around the pivot cone in 2nd. No biggie. Shifting into 1st is gonna make you loose time/ put unwanted stress on the car.

I think the 2 afforementioned mods would make it even harder to go into first. Its impossible for me to put my car into first while I am moving, but I would never want to anyway. From a stop I start my car in second gear from almost every light and my car pulls hard enough in 2nd gear that as long as I am above 2,000 RPM or so I'd might as well leave it in second.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

How many people heel-toe with the heel on the brake? I've never heard of that before this thread!
