;) I might have a rat rod body, but I take the highest care in my engines. Even tucked most of my harness.
Next thing I have to do is swap the harness over like csermonet47 did with his. Converting to the b25 harness makes a cleaner finish for the c101 and placement of the relays. But yeah, it is annoying to see not many take the effort in a clean swap. Oddly, my b35 from a 1989 535 swapped without any wiring. FrankM E30 checked the pin out and said it was ready to fire from factory. Never ever seen that before. Only thing that needs to be wired up is the tach. When I did my swap, I was in a rush to get on the road for GFest '13.
I pulled the b35 on 1-16-2013 and was running with a completely resealed and powder coated b35 on 4-23-2013. Would have been done sooner, but I was waiting on powder coated parts.
I did not have time to redo the bottom end before Gfest. But the engine had under 120k on it. Some day down the road when I have the room I want to bore over the block and rebuild it completely.
m30 vs 24v swap

F34r, I saw your build thread, now I see why you left that comment about people who just clean up the outside of engines. lolLeave a comment:

explains a few things.U ignorant buffoon
U rocker breakin' monkey.
You know something that hasn't come up, really, in all this heavy-poo- flinging
name- calling-
displacement. You can get darn near a liter more out of an M30.
And it has 12 more rockers than a DOHC head, too, so you can hear it comin'.

Same.
I still don't understand why people are spending all that money and effort putting in a motor that makes power comparable to an M20.
M30's are so underrated and cheap as hell.Leave a comment:

Your car is great Ryan. Wish my swap was THAT neat!A 24v motor will be cheaper to get power out of. It will also be smoother and more efficient if it is in good shape. It is a more modern motor, so it only makes sense. M30s just have a set of balls to them I feel that most 24v motors do not.
They also look right at home in an E30 engine bay 8)
A lot of people on here just don't know what they are talking about when it comes to M30 swaps, so here is some info from someone who has done one. Trust me, I have my grade 10.
Having taken mine for a country run today I have to agree with the "set of balls" comment - in the e30 the M30 drives more like an old school small block V8 than they have any right to. The torque just doesn't fall off & I like my grumpy idle :)
Overtaking is effortless even in 5th gear.Leave a comment:

I feel bad for people who use m50 that btw is barely faster then an m20.
reading about how much better, lighter, TWIN CAM, make ur dick bigger on these forums.

Salutations waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffless.
I got a hair over 27mpg highway in my M30 car. On average I got 22-23 combined.
A stock M30B35 makes more power than a stock M50/2 and with a MAF and tune it is almost in stock S50/2 territory. Here is a dyno of a stock B35 with Miller MAF and tune coming in at 194whp and 214 ft/lbs.
An M30 weighs within 20lbs of an M50/2 and weighs less than an S50/2 (source here or here)
The only "fabrication" involved is buying prefabricated motor mounts, cutting stock radiator mounts (30 seconds with a grinder), pushing the firewall back (if you choose the rear position on the Otis mounts), and a modified drive shaft (shortened E28 front on an E30 back is easiest). Wiring is very simple for late model cars.

The M30 is an old motor (been around since the 60s), but that does not mean it is a bad motor. They are cheap, simple, last forever, and are easy to work on. The junkyards are full of them too.

M30 has heaps of potential when done right id never consider a M50/52 over a good M30Leave a comment:

I would take a boosted m30 over an s54 all day. You cannot kill an m30/
I got my m30 & 260/6 fully dressed for under 400.00. I took it home and tore it down. Replaced every seal and surfaced the head and block by hand(yes you can do it properly that way). I have under 1k total in my swap and it is fresh and perfect order.
There are deals to be had if you search.
Not sure if anyone that is not my friend can view this. But here is my refreshed m30b35 with custom short headers to a 2 into 1 Y and a 3" stainless steel system(deleted cats) and a magnaflow 3" in and 4" out. Steve(Blunt) has heard my car @vintage in Saratoga. Everyone heard me gurgling in. Highway cruising is a breeze with almost no cabin noise. If you kick down it is like a angry horde of goblins tearing your flesh off.

I would do an S50/S52 or M30 swap, but then I'd always regret not saving up to do an S54 or V8 swap. Lets be honest, everything else is pretty lame compared to the S54. Its actually a fact that jesus made the s54. you cant compete with jesus, and perfection. God bless the S54.Leave a comment:
