325e vs 318i - Most fuel efficient e30?

E30s are light, but the CRX was a lot lighter and had a 1.5 did it not?

Those points granted, They are similar cars. If a CRX can get 60+, I don't think a 318 getting 40 is all that far'fetched. I've done a Sac-LA trip once in my b25 and got there on 1 tank (443 miles). That's somewhere around the ball-park of 29MPG. Just trying to say it wouldn't be the first time a hybrid vehicle has gotten worse than a traditional gas vehicle

When I had my 325e it got me 36mpg once, that was keeping the rpm's at around 2000 for the entire freeway trip. Never got better than that again, because I drove whatever speed I wanted to after that, but usually 30-32 on the freeway.

My 318is I got 34mpg on the freeway before. I usually get 29-30mpg combination/island driving.

I've had two 325es and three 318is. The 318's I could drive however I wanted and mileage was never affected to much. The 325e's I had to baby more to get consistent Mileage.

Both got high 20's to low 30's on the freeway and mid 20's around town. The 318is is faster and handles better.

I can only report on the 318is.. I r3v the hell out of my M42, it has a fuel/air problem, pretty beat little car, averages 28 - 30 in the city on 91 gasoline. 36 - 38 on the highway with myself and two <125 pound girls. 38 - 40+ highway solo dolo.

Things to consider: very low car, 14" wheels, Tucson AZ weather.

Now, the real reason you own an E30 -- smile miles --> M42 >>> ETA (stock stock yall)

I didn't own it

it really was a pile of shit, everything on it was broken, it had front end damage from hitting a deer, the suspension was shot, the interior was trashed.. at one point it was a pretty clean, stock car in good running shape, but my friend runs cars into the ground. amazingly enough he never did kill the thing, and he's destroyed every car he's ever owned!

I drove a beat to shit, pile of a high miles 318is for a few months that consistently got 30mpg. clutch was fried and slipped at more than 1/2 throttle, timing rails were toast, tank full of rust, fart can, etc. etc..

Should of kept it.
The return on investment would of made you so much cash nowadays!

Same! I get pretty decent mileage but I can literally see the fuel gauge go down if I'm romping around all day. I get 20/25 but if I'm not being conservative or not really paying attention in general, my working odometer tells me I hit 1/4 tank at 200 miles. I still have the 4.10 open diff though as well as 16" wheels, banged up fuel tank, kamotors intake, and a walbro fuel pump. (if any of those matter)

I get 30 mpg on the highway in my 4000lb ix touring with an M50tu. 20ish around town. Maybe everyone should 24v swap? lol
