Seriously that doesn't look terrible. I've (had) fixed worse. You could do most yourself.
Ditto on both ^^^^. I bought a car that had alittle worse damage than this and fixed it in my driveway at home.

A clean, unmolested, low-mileage E30 is worth 5-8k depending on the location of the car and the equipment is comes with. (sport seats, auto or manual, etc.)

I've seen some sell for more. Don't let anyone tell you that just because your car is an old E30 that it isn't worth anything. Find some nice cars for sale, print out the ads, and tell the insurance company to pound sand until they pay out.

When I bought my car I needed new fenders, hood, and valence. Worst comes to worse buy a new primered fender from amazon ($120) new hood from junkyard ($40) new plastic bumpers from someone on craigslist ($100) and possibly new valence ($100) and cost to have it repainted ($???) its all easy stuff to fix so no big deal, sorry to hear about the car tho.

I don't think any ins co uses KBB...that's a common misconception. Typically late model e30s have come in 3000-4500 bone stock before any receipts/adjustments; based off comps only.

And I also guarantee yelling isn't going to make an adjuster pay more. Neither will threatening legal counsel.

You are a kid, do not take offence to that. I really hope you have your dad or some other adult. He is going to try and walk all over you. It is clear with him wanting to buy your car.

Ask him what he would do if you backed into his. He would fuck you sideways dry on a Saturday night with George Michael playing in the background.

Ins companies typically use one or more of four valuation methods. CCC, ADP,(both of which require subscriptions and we have no access to.) NADA, or more often than not, an ACV sheet. The ACV consists of comparables, Nada, and salvage bids averaged together. This is more common on older or "unusual" vehicles. I have seen multiple people post on this forum that salvage titles "really do not matter" and that's absolutely untrue, unless you plan to keep the vehicle forever. Also, as said, threatening and yelling at adjusters will ONLY HURT you. I cannot stress that enough.

We use ADP valuations aka audatex...ACV meaning actual cash value.

                    ACV
                    -salvage bid (opt)
                    +sales tax
                    +prorate reg
                    -ded
                    =net

Also, we are very lenient to our insureds, so we can find comps and enter them into a calculator for mileage...although that is sort of an uncommon route...usually, cars over 15 years old go straight to appraisal if there's a dispute.

Again, my company is very open-minded to total loss.

Go through their insurance. Hands down the way to go. The sooner you act the better it will be. I got $4k for my old e30 about 8 years ago and it was in worse shape than yours. Also don't let the dad play games with you.

I was rear ended a few years ago and the lady didn't want to go through insurance, I was ok with that if she fixed my car, but she wanted to fix hers first and stopped answering my calls or calling me back. Called her insurance agent, within ten minutes of getting off the phone with them she called me back to chew me out.

But it paid off in the end, I got 2.5 times what I paid for the car plus $ for injuries. Bought the car back and drove its balls off for a few more years and sold it for almost what I paid for it.

                      Good luck in all this

Just DONT go to their shop pref. Either take their cash and fix yourself or go through insurance. You can always drop the claim later.

If it's already been submitted to insurance you really don't have to worry about the dad or his useless opinions. It's all in the hands of his insurance company now and he will pay the same deductible regardless of your outcome. It's nothing to lose a friend over!

When I got rear ended, the adjuster over the phone said "it's probably a total loss" . Insurance Company's are TOLD to say this. They love just writing checks for cars because then they don't have to deal with other expenses that may occur (needing to pull the frame or whatever) .

When I was dealing with the insurance (USAA in this instance) , they told
Me they needed to tow the car to the adjusters . It was a complete lie, they towed it to an insurance Auto Auctions lot where they ripped apart my center console to take all my spare change, and then prepped it for auction(removed my plates , cleaned out the car) Before I even settled with the Insurance company. I found pictures of my car on the IAA website and was about to go call the police. When I got my car back half the screws for the license plates where in the dash vents and the other half were wedged under the ashtray, where they started to short out on the cigarette lighter on the drive home .

Tldr DONT let them tow your car anywhere . Say you want them to come to you.

And I got $1900 for my car that isint that clean and had 253k on It at the time of the accident . Your car looks cleaner then mine did. If the insurance company has been notified. They'll contact you. And they can't give you a value of the car before they've even seen it . Say you want it FIXED. Tell them the damage isint terrible enough to declare it a total loss. You need an adjuster from their company too look at it.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: you call your insurance company. Tell them it was a hit and run and you know who did it. Give them douchebag moms name, if they admit to it your insurance will go after them and fix your car for you only paying like a $250 deductible. That's only if they start to dick you around.

DONT SETTLE FOR $1300. Your car is worth MUCH more then that unless it has like 400,000 miles on it .
