To do E39 v8 swap you have to swap front subframes IIRC. V8 e39s have a steering box, 6cly ones have a steering rack.

Why get a BMW when you're going to have sports equipment and boogers everywhere on the interior?

Plus, save the money you'd spend and use it on the family - probably much more rewarding than doing an engine swap while your wife nags you and your kid screams for your attention while you're dicking around in the garage.

Xterras can be had cheap as well. The v6 with a 6 speed gets up and goes as well.

I heard those things suck a D for what they are. Reliability wise and fuel economy.

How can an automobile suck a dick?

I definitely want one of those.

If you find one in good shape and very well maintained, grab yourself a mid 2000s passat!
On second though if you still want a small car my uncle has a mkV GTI four door and it fits two car seats no problem in the back

Which caught fire, and was replaced with an M3. So that might not be such a bad thing.

Fuel economy is high teens average. Reliability is good. I heard bad things about the auto transmission, but otherwise a solid vehicle. The interior is all hard plastic, but it's meant to be an off road type vehicle that is easy to clean.

I have an '03 525i Touring 5-speed. Absolutely one of the best cars i've owned. For an underpowered wagon, its still quite entertaining in corners, the sport interior is extremely comfortable for me, and i get a solid 23 or 24mpg mixed.

They are more complicated than e34 tourings, but the interior and driving experience is better IMO, and while manuals are pretty rare, they at least exist.

Anyone have experience with an E39 Touring?
I get ~20 in town and 30 on the highway with my AWD e34 touring. Something is wrong with his.

E34 touring would be an awesome family car. They even came with rear child seats as an option.
