I quite enjoy my E30 at 6'3" 165lbs. I even feel comfortable in the back...

I think the definition of space requirements are now utterly silly. I shall be fine with a kid and and e30. However, since kids tend to destroy nice things, A 540it would be my choice, or a 740il for the rear leg room and kids.

I'm 6'3" also and I still move my seat up just a bit because I don't like my arms straight out for steering. My dad is 6'6" And his head has maybe an inch of head space inside. When we got in the Porsche boxer his sight line was the top of the window LOL. My height is probably max for a Porsche but an Austin Martin I barely fit and a Lotus is fucking tight too.

If I had kids I'd probably just get a mini SUV like a Kia Sportage, something cheap, safe and don't really give a fuck about because kids fuck everything nice up, remember when you were a kid.

Only if your kids are little assholes. My kids know what the E30 rules are, the worst thing they do is touch the windows.

Damn it, now I want an E34 wagon. My old E34 540 sedan was a blast to drive, but the electrical gremlins sucked the life out of me, been hesitant ever since.

On topic, there are a lot of really great mid-size cars out there. Just find one you like that has been well maintained.

I cart my three kids around in the vert. It's not the easiest thing to do, but I'm 5'7" so I can step into the back seat to buckle the 4-year-old twins. I couldn't subject my daughter to being picked up from school in a Kia.

These also have fold up rear facing third row seat, and built in booster seats as an option. They are awd have a fun turbocharged motor and manual transmission option.

The e30 vinyl backseats can withstand years of kid torture, but hours long road trips require cash payments to teenagers (money well spent).

E46 Wagon. I love the e34s but I also love manual transmissions. I I stumble across a manual-swapped e34 I would get it but e46 might be easier to find.

I run two booster seats in the back of my e30 sedan - my 4 & 5 year old fit in there fine.

Sheesh - when I was growing up, for several years we drove a mini with 3 kids in the back (original late 60's one). We didn't die, as one would be led to believe these days.
