R32 Skylines are 25 years old...

Anyone else tempted? Are they actually legal?

Anyone else want to get together and start importing them?

Is it build date or model year that is used for the 25 year exemption? I thought it was former?

Always loved this one. Evo did a comparison of R32, R33, and R34 a few years back. They said the R32 was the pick of the trio.

i think its model year. 1989 was a good year anyway.

that car was the badass of its time. i personally don't have any interest in it though. i think its kinda ugly.

Build date is the date used when importing a car. R32s are awesome cars and I'd love to bring one over as well one day.

Skylines all over the place here, 15 year import rule and a port city. I think they're a very cool car but even having a euro e30 it makes me think I'd get somethig that was actually offered here over a Skyline for the money.

I'd love to get one, and hope they stay relatively the same price for the next few years.

If you bring it through Canada, they don't list the build date on their paperwork. Just the year. Skylines aren't technically 25 yet by build date, but by model year they are.

Read that in an earlier article on that same car. Goes into the legalities a bit more.

Trevor Cobb has a unique and enviable distinction. As of January 1, 2014, he is the first and only person to have a truly legally imported R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R in America. This is how and why he did it.

I would rock one for sure. I can appreciate a solid Japanese sports car.

R34's are personally my favorite out of all the skylines they just look so aggressive and right. I'd take an r34 over just about any car.

so, they built them after they sold them? huh?

Maybe it's because I see them all the time around here, but I think they're pretty meh. it would be just another old turbo car if we got them when they were new, like a '90s celica or something.

                              From the article I posted:

There is some debate in our Opposite Lock forums as to the letter of the law on how this car was imported, as GT-R production didn't start until August 1989, but the Canadian paperwork only listed "1989" as the year of manufacture, not the month and year like the Japanese paperwork did. Cobb, who is commenting on that thread, believes his car is absolutely fine and that the exemption is only calculated by year, not month. As more cars begin to cross the border, this will surely become an interesting little caveat in the law that may leave some people very, very disappointed. But right now, it seems like all of 1989 is fair game.
