Been seeing them for years up here. Personally was never a fan of the R32's. However R33 or R34 are much nicer looking cars. Neighbor used to own a nice white R33 GTR (or lookalike), and saw my first R34 a few months ago on the streets. I would love to own one only if they made them in LHD.

Performance wise they are pretty awesome cars though!

The thing that gets me is when I see guys with the GTS-T or other non GT-R models. I'm sure the GT-R's are more expensive to purchase, but it's gonna be the same to import them, so why not get the one that you really want? Personally I'd feel like an idiot driving a 2wd or non turbo Skyline, but that's just me.

yeah I've seen a lot of those too. I think most people don't realize they weren't all AWD/turbo, so they can be all "I'm cool cause I drive a freakin' SKYLINE!!!".

part of my dislike for them are the people that seem to drive them. dickbags doesn't seem to describe it accurately enough, but it's close. I've met a couple cool owners with really nicely restored examples but that's pretty rare..

So it fits in line with most BMW owners...

There's a local guy who has two of them, is very knowledgable, pretty much known as the go to guy for anything technical or for getting parts who is super cool. All the other Skyline guys seem to hang around him. His car is very highly modified. It all started with him shearing off an oil pump and blowing a motor. Now the car has a rebuilt/built up motor, single turbo, CCWs, Coilovers, etc. Thing is a beast but he says it's to nice to daily it and too low to track it haha. Still one hell of a nice car. Everyone around town knows him and the car.

R34s are legal here now, have fun with your r32s.

But seriously, I would rather have a gc8 v4 type R or better for the money, I think I'm done buying cheap cars in shit shape.

We would have to wait another 8 years before one of those would be legal to bring over.

I remember a Mitsubishi Diamante rolling around here that looked exactly like a Skyline. Only reason I knew it was a Diamante was I knew a friend who knew the car.

I was a kid too, but knew about Skylines so I got all excited about it until being told what it really was. Should have know since it was always parked at the shady apartments in town.

^This, they've been abused/neglected just as bad as many other performance-oriented vehicles of it's age. I say this kindly, but it's an old Nissan, who's build quality cannot possibly rival that of an E30(or any other BMW of the same era). If you're gonna spend some loot, at least buy a Supra.

I'd buy an IROC Camaro or Foxbody Mustang first.

Before the e30 even came out I owned some nice Japanese cars. I have owned Datusn 510's and early Toyota Celicas coupes and fast backs as well as Mazda RX-2 and RX-3. Super nice cars to own, drive and a pleasure to work on (except the Mazda). I do drool when I see a nice Skyline on the street as I am a car guy but i still prefer a stanced e30 with a loud roar.
I am not sick, I am twisted. Sick makes it sound like there is a cure.
