Is the blinker switch in e30's not automatic? IE when you put the blinker on, turn, and straighten the wheel they stay on instead of flicking off? WTF? The owner said it was normal?

There's a black plastic ring mounted to the back of the steering wheel, with a little tab on it that flicks the turn signal off when you straighten the wheel after a corner. That little tab might be broken off. It's broken off on mine, but I've gotten used to turning it off myself, and now I actually prefer to switch it off myself.Comment

Since we're on the subject, I can't stand how you have to turn the wheel way far to get the blinker to shuddup... its not like that in most cars.

The part is probably under $5-6. I bet someone here has one laying around that they didn't even know about. It's held onto the back of the steering wheel with 2 screws. All you need to fix it is a 22mm deep well to take off the steering wheel, and a phillips head screwdriver. Just make sure your wheels are straight when you take off/reinstall the steering wheel, and put the wheel back on perfectly straight.Originally posted by joecroutonis it repairable? maybe i just didnt turn the wheel enoughComment
