    Right in so many ways

So for complicated (responsible) reasons, I'm selling my new, reliable, powerful truck in the name of something likely the opposite. I'm debating between the Jeep Cherokee early model or late model (both have good qualities), and the Chevrolet C10 pick-up.

Anyway, I just came across the below photo and while it seems very wrong (dark tint, low pros), I think it's right in oh so many ways.

    thoughts?

I've had a few Cherokee's. I absolutely LOVE them. However a non-rusted one is becoming hard to find. Not like a bubble here and there, like 'where the hell did my floor go'. I'd buy a clean one in a heartbeat though. Easy to work on, fantastic in crappy weather, cheap parts available everywhere, HUGE aftermarket. No opinion on the C10 other than the one you posted looks awesome.

I love that gen C10/20. My dad has a 67 that used to be a farm truck.

I've always wanted to do something like this with it:

i don't really like dumped trucks at all.

i do have a 96 cherokee and its awesome. 240k, no major issues, and i've put less than 2500 bucks into it since i bought it (including all maintanence, etc). 4.0 has torque for days and snow WILL NOT slow it down.

It's rare I actually laugh out loud, but I'm pretty sure the people upstairs just heard me. thanks.

Thankfully for me, my shopping district is Alberta - widely regarded as the best area to look for non-rusted trucks in Canada.

I just can't decide what the best route for me to go is. I know in the end I'll want to make it into a big project once I have the money to do so, but in the meanwhile a C10 will likely be rusted out, an early model Cherokee with have a billion and three miles and likely break down before I drive it away, and the late model, if in good shape, are actually getting quite expensive.

late models with the dodge style interior are kind of a bummer anyway. i don't know why you would assume it'll break down. cherokees will easily do 300k if you take care of them. i bought mine with 225k and haven't regretted it once. a dumped truck may be more cool but cherokees are so fun. you can't take a dumped truck camping or anything. that's why i wouldn't want one. not practical at all. and if a vehicle isn't practical it should be fast.. right?

That's fair to call me out; I'll admit I might be projecting a bit. What I need more than anything is something reliable. Given the car (truck) culture in Alberta, I figured the XJ would have good support with parts and such. Thing is, with it likely to have higher milage and being a totally new vehicle to me, I'll admit the safety of a lower milage late model is very tempting.

I like some lowered trucks. But C10s just don't do it for me. I like them at the stock height.

Trucks are not supposed to be lowered. Lifted with 33"-35" tires is how a truck should be modified. Function creates form.

c10s at regular height or slightly lifted are sick. i just think lowering them is kind of a fad. keep it up high and you can use it for SO many things.

Exactly. Lowering a truck almost entirely defeats the purpose of having one in the first place. Unless it's one of those Syclone type sports pickups.
