Put it on ebay and have the market decide.

Perfect car for the type of person who wants to do a swap.

        13-16k depending on your patience.

In that case I would buy this one and save me the trouble of fixing the rust and swapping the engine. Granted it looks like it needs some things and you won't have an S14 to sell or keep. Never the less, a pretty decent deal I think:

About 10k in current condition. Clean up the rust, maybe polish the paint, and you could reach into the 12-14k range.

I wouldnt let that go for a penny less than $15k, and at that price it will go quick. Go look how many M3's you see for sale right now for under $20k. People with real money are starting to want these cars and the price has done nothing but risen recently, and its expected to keep climbing.

Very soon I would be in the market for an m3 in very similar condition. Have you decided if your going to sell it or not yet?

A year ago, I sold my 100% stock E30 M3 with no rust whatsoever and no mechanical issues for 18K and it took me a month to sell it. It was the most painful car selling experience ever. The kind of questions people will ask and pictures they will request is just mind boggling.

No matter how you advertise it, this is not a 18K car. The market is going up but not that fast. I would say, 12-14K max.

^12-14k is for rich high school kids. To a well established adult, I'd say 17-22k. It's all relative.

My comment was based on the experience of selling my car:

I posted it at $18K and it took almost a month to sell. Highest offer I had for a few weeks was $15K.

^it depends who and how many were looking to buy one at the time. when during the year also plays a factor (ie: tax return and xmas season). you can have a dozen of interests, but only one who will gladly pay the asking price because he really wants one. the m3 market has gone up too fast. also, it can be the timing and luck. you probably had neither of them.

I think there is still a very well defined threshold of $15K. Below that people will just snatch your car without asking questions. Above that, they will nitpick for months and then walk away. I had two people who seemed very serious and then walked away for BS reasons (bad color match on a bracket in the engine bay or such) or just bugged me for weeks asking for pictures impossible to take and then just didn't follow up.

I think above $15K people just want perfect 1 owner cars, below 50K miles, clean carfax and new car smell still present.

Anyhow. I miss my M3 but I don't miss trying to sell one and deal with all the obsessive compulsive buyers these cars seem to attract. Most painful and frustrating experience ever.
