Yeah, i gave them everything they need. like motor mount brackets, new clutch/flywheel.. all that stuff. All they have to do is take the old engine/tranny out of the car and put the new engine with a tranny that they're going to supply into the car... The rest i'm gonna do myself...

I need a driveshaft from and e28, an ix washer fluid reservior, and other stupid stuff.... When i get hte car drivable sometime in the summer. i'll make a trip to amesbury. Maybe we can have some kind of meet... I got a pic of what I did yesterday so far....

Looks perty Frank - I was always curious about an m30 swap - how come you aren't just doing it yourself? Looks like it isn't the time or mechanical skill...

We'll be having lots of meets this summer. Any excuse to get the vert out for some photos and run into some fellow e30'ers!

                  i'll third this notion.

was the only way i could 'motivate' mechanics to speed up work on a Ducati I once had.

If you told them a month, well then, they have about 25 days to sit on thier ass. cause at a VERY slow pace, in agarage with the right stuff, that swap can be done in 2 days. the more money, the more they want it done. just have patience, or do it yourself.

                        Exactly.
With air tools, an engine hoist and a lift, 1 person can do that in a day if they're motivated. Unbolt/hook/plug everything, remove engine and replace with already removed 2nd engine = not much work at all for someone experienced.

And I 4th the case o' beer suggestion. Shows that you don't only care about getting a deal on a job.

If you want it done quicker, then give a shorter deadline.

Tell them that you would like a certain discount for everyday that goes by after a set date. That way every day they sit around with their thumb up their ass they're losing money.

                            True..thanx guys.

yeah, they have the transmission in need... still installed in a parts car in their lot.

Actually, i think they're going to take my super eta engine out today... so i get to clean up the engine bay.. I'm gonna give them another 2 weeks before I really say anything.. bc by then it will be a month.. and by then, it's guaranteed that i'll have the money by then . lol

Scott. that's my whole plan briz... i'm tryin to get this drivable in the next couple months so that by the mid summer, I'll be able to drive it to meets... if not, then looks like the end of the summer it will have to happen....The sooner the better i say.

I will do writeups of all the shit i'm doing.. i already have documented everything i've bought for the conversion and my car in general...

I'd love to show you guys.. is there anyway to attach excel files for download on a thread?

haha. 240z's are nice though because they have so much room. it'll take you like 30 minutes to pull the motor/tranny.
