I would like to spend $200 or less. The car is an 88 with an m50 swap. What are your suggestions for a cheap mod to tide me over until i have more money?

I bet there is $200 worth of maintenance you could do.

    Otherwise, just save.

That really depends on what has been done already, and what you feel needs improvement.
Assuming all maintenance is up to date, my first choice for modifications is usually audio. I want to enjoy my time in the car as much at possible, and good audio is an easy improvement.
Other interior improvements like shifter and e-brake boots, clutch stop, shift knob, and steering wheel can all make a noticeable difference. Retrofitting a power sunroof, red instrument cluster needles, and adding cup holders are also nice.
If that's already up to par, then a e36 rack, m3 sway bar weld on tabs, or offset cabs can all improve your seat time.

Oil and spark plugs were just changed. Suspension is in good shape. Lowered on an h &r cup kit. Tires in good shape. I've done all the maintenance it needs but just curious if anyone had any ideas.

A road trip actually sounds nice. I just need the western washington weather to clear up first. (If that ever happens.)

It's an E30. There's ALWAYS more maintenance to be done.
