Perhaps you would like a nice rust free strut tower to replace it with?

Check out http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=316693 ask, and maybe someone will take pity on you, cut what you need and ship. Shipping could be a pain of course, as could slicing a tower when the engine bay is full.

I wonder if you would you be able to braze it back together after grinding off all of the rust, would it be strong enough? Anyone know?

Best of luck on the repairs.

I could, but it will be the very last thing done before the car gets sent off for scrap. There are just too many other projects in the works, rebuilding a new Chump, building my track car, restoring the Hartge, that take priority.

Someone is coming tomorrow to cut out the battery tray in the engine bay, and I will ask if they can do the strut tower. In any case you can send me measurements of what you need and I will have them with the car.

I'm pretty sure I saw a shell in the classifieds posted for $100. It's in SoCal and appears to be mostly rust free - definitely better than what you're working with.

I got a welder but its a flux core. My main concern Is getting the sheet metal bent and formed to shape. I have zero way of forming sheet metal I would have to buy and brake and everything.

That looks like a "rust- free" 2002.

Is there any perforation? It's hard to tell from your pics,
but most of that is surface and easily treated.

The passenger side was mostly surface but where the rust was it left the metal badly pitted like someone sprayed it with acid. Rest of the rust is straight through and I can stick my fingers through it

Please fix it. I hate seeing shells scrapped due to rust. It is fixable. Currently, I am doing a frame-off on a 1965 Dodge D100. Every panel has at least one rust hole, the bed floor has around 20. You can do it.

Well the decision to fix it has been made for now... Tomorrow Im getting more sheet metal tools and cutting hopefully all rusty panels out. Monday I'm getting a 4x8 sheet of 18 gauge steel to patch all the rust hopefully its enough to patch it all.

Awesome! At least when you're done, you'll have a great sense of satisfaction and know that you have a rust-free e30.
