Those are the flanges and the donut that goes on one side of the pipe.

Look it up, my boy - they both have the word "gasket" in their names. I realize that they are not the typical flat paper/fiber type gasket, but they do serve to help seal the coupling nonetheless.

Fits exactly like the original - double pipes from the cat back and double tips out the back.

Awesome, I think I will go with that then. Would I get any more power by going single 2.50" from the cat back? Also, I confused, the diagram seems to show from the cat to the engine exhaust, or am I just looking at the wrong?not cat back to muffler?

As dave pointed out, BMW decided it was worth calling a gasket in the P/N.

Anything that seals two parts together is a gasket - even if it's thick and metal. Head gasket - not a gasket?

Did they even replace that part though? I have never replaced it and I've taken my exhaust off a thousand times.

Ever thrown an old head gasket in a fire? The brown stuff burns off (if the fire is hot enough) and you're left with metal.
