As dave pointed out, BMW decided it was worth calling a gasket in the P/N.
Anything that seals two parts together is a gasket - even if it's thick and metal. Head gasket - not a gasket?Comment

Head gaskets aren't metal :)
Did they even replace that part though? I have never replaced it and I've taken my exhaust off a thousand times.Comment
