When my dad replaced his I was shocked that I just pushed the button and the trunk shot right up. Mine would maybe stay open on a warm day (and the number of times I've hit my head on the damn latch trying to hold it up with my head/shoulder is too damn high). I ordered a new pair on my next blunttech order.

It's to improve your radio reception because the electrics given off by the engine do stuff and blah blah blah

maybe I don't know HOW it works, but it is for radio reception for real.

Lot of stuff already mentioned in here. I'll just list some items that commonly go on e30's.

Defrost buttons that get stuck, trunk latch, plastic odometer gears, sunroof motor, ignition switch, tail light gaskets, AC compressor, driveshaft guibo......

I popped my hood at a meet once and people freaked out cause my hood lunged for their throats.

Dude asked me "Uh.. That doesn't sound good.. Is it supposed to do that?"

I was all like: "Yeah, go replace your shock, you cheap bastard"

old coolant reservoir. You need a flashlight to check the level because the thing's so yellowed, and it's like a ticking time bomb of 27 year old plastic.

or maybe this is MY most overlooked repair.

Oil/coolant level sensors for the check panel. I've always just looped the plug or pressed the button every time I start driving
