Matt removed it because it is against the rules to post links to eBay auctions.

Yeah, they cost between 150 and 160 to ship, 160 to a business addy in the 99 one...but they actually still cost several hundred bucks.

Shipping costs do seem high, but it's the size not the weight that's the issue. Obviously a huge box is needed and has to go freight.

and speaking on shipping.. I think a car to a different continent would be a bit high for a swap ;)

the hood comes by freight is is packaged quite well so the high shipping cost is not too high... it took me seriously 30 minutes with 1 other guy helping and my girlfriend watching to get it fully out of the box... perhaps if they spent as much time making the mold correctly as they do on their packing it would be a better product

In defense of the VIS hood, sure it has the mentioned flaws on the passenger side which can easily be remedied with proper alignment and hood seals. It's not perfect but how many FG, CF reproduction parts are? Bottom line: this hood is comparable to hoods that have sold for twice the price. It weighs about 20lbs with the stock hinges attached...about 13lb weight savings if I remember correctly. The FG race hoods are around 10lbs but often the finish is terrible, single skinned and require pins.

I have the hood in question and I am quite happy with it. Definetly saves a ton of weight!!! My hood practicly jumps off the car when you pull the hood release latch. The only issue is the passenger side corner near the cowl, it does dip in there but most people don't even notice it until you point it out! And you can't beat the price!! I've attached a few photos to show the fitment and finish. All in all you get a great hood for an even better price!!!

One word of advice though! I bought mine on ebay and had it shipped freight. It was shipped by DHL and they absolutely suck!!!! If you can get UPS or FedEx do it!!! DHL took over a month to deliver it and then they told me they lost it, I had already started processing the lost shipment claim when one day out of the blue the DHL truck showed up at my door with the hood. I called DHL and they didn't know how it got to my house because they had no record of it in their computer system.

Dont get anything but a factory OEM hood. No composites of any kind. A hood is a very tough to reproduce. People want their cake and to eat it too. The only way to can have it both ways is by paying 1000+ dollars for a CF hood. Or stop wanting something litgher weight for performance but cry about it not looking OEM. Which do you want? Its a trade-off as is most things car-related. Evo 3 hood seals and youre good. not even one tenth of a percent of people on the street will notice anything to bitch about when you show them your new snazzy CF fuh raze hood DAWGZ!!

I want one for less weight but I don't want exposed CF, I'd have to paint it. they look fine on black cars though.

                          nice tires btw ;)

Thanks. Yeah then Id go for the FG one. MUCH less expensive and essentially the same results.
