    Painted exhausted manifolds

So I was putting in a new exhaust, so I figured that I might as well paint the manifolds while in there.

First I sand blasted them. You can see a huge difference after I finished the first one. It went from rust orange to bright bare steel.

I then got some duplicolor ultra high temp engine paint. I got the orange rust off then gave them a few coats of bright orange, really not far off from rust orange in color.

Now I'm sure ppl will have issues with color choice but who cares they are exhaust manifolds no one will ever see them. I'm definitely glad that's the case because I got them on and everything was great. Then I cracked the hood yesterday and the orange has now turned bright yellow.

I guess the moral of the story is I probably should have had them powder coated.

I used the same paint on my dodge ram headers and they also turned that weird bright yellow color!
            But I didn't care.

They turned Yellow after they warmed up. Paint held up well for along time too!

This was like 4 years ago. Cant find any pics of when after it warmed up.

Although I'm not suprised you picked mustard yellow

I think it would have looked better in grey

                        but to each his own

I think my thought process at the time was to go with a bright color because it would radiate less heat into the engine bay. It turning mustard yellow is a happy coincidence.

On the topic of discussion engine paint/colors. What about valve cover? DIY paint, powdercoat, or anodize?

Did you use header or block paint? I used header paint on mine (flat black) that's rated for like 2500*F.
