Okay so I told him that I will not go through insurance and I came to a bmw dealership and they quoted me $372.76 and it didn't include labor. They also said that they gotta order it from Germany and that will take at least 10 business days, I need my car to get to school. The bmw dude also said that fed ex took care of the shipment, so there is a big chance that it might arrive with a chip or something. Now idk what to do :| any ideas.? Should I just go and give him the estimate I got from bmw or?...

Now you have another thing to add to the estimate. Rental car while your car is down and un drivable. Or do the unsafe and potentially ticketable thing. Kick the front windshield out with both legs while sitting in the drivers seat.

Clean up glass and run open shield. Do this only if you are not a fugitive from the law and can tolerate being pulled over to give the cop a sob story.

Since its a "fix it" ticket you have 30 days to get it taken care of and signed off. Cop may not let you drive away though. :(

Within 30 days you will have your windshiled fixed and all fix it tickets will be signed off. Assuming neighboris not a douche.

This is not my best advice by a long shot and I would work the neighbor for cheap rental car costs during the time you need to get back and forth to school. Thats not going to happen with broke dick baggy pants though.

Drop the front windshield down on my Jeep and secure it so there is no glass and I am ILLEGAL. Whaaaaa? Makes no sense. I still ove doing it though. No top- No doors, front windshield dropped and secured with aviator goggles ripping through neighborhoods while I yell -"BWAAAAAAAAA (lower tone), BWAAAAAAAAAA (little higher tone), BWAAAAAAAAA (highest tone)" Oh , so good!

Just keep in mind you are the party that was wronged and stay calm cool and collected. Shoot high though so you can settle low. Please video tape the interaction with the neighbor and post on R3V for the hilarity of it!

All the auto glass shops around me have access to OEM BMW glass through their supply chain...no need to go through the dealer/FedEx at all. Drop the car off at the glass shop, have them install original BMW glass, pick it up in 3 days tops, use funds from the responsible party to pay.

Does anyone ever take responsibility for their actions when they have wronged someone else ? Either intentionally or unintentionally. No , instead they over indulge in alcohol , act like children ,throw bottles and think it's something that YOU need to deal with using your insurance company. When did this ever become something you needed to expend effort on ? His fucking inability to keep things under control lead to you being very inconvenienced.

Tell him if he does not pay you for whatever windshield you decide to have installed to repair the e30 you will rent a car and add it to the cost of repairs and be happy to sue him for windshield damages as well as the rental car expenses because you must have a vehicle to get to and from school.

You gotta push back hard in these situations . I speak from experience.

Call a reputable body shop near you and ask how much it will be to install an oem windshield. Tell the guy to pay that amount. Simple as that. Bummer though. This guy you are dealing with is an idiot.

Alright so I told my buddies about what had happened Friday night. So yesterday I went target shooting, I get a call from one of them and he tells me that they had bought me a windshield from the junkyard :D they said it was really clean. I was pretty shocked and was just thankful. So what I'm gonna do now is add the windshields price ($40) to the neighbors tap and plus the labor work.. And possibly a little extra for my troubles ;) lol. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
