    Well this is BS...

    How's it going r3v.?

My night was going pretty well, I was talking to this chick I'm really digging meanwhile the neighbors were partying their night out. The neighbors are some college students and it was redicolously loud, I was in my room when I heard this bottle break outside. I took my time to go check it out, but when I got there, there was a big ass skyy vodka bottle on the floor.! >:0 I was like whatever's about it, but it had landed right next to the e30, so I began looking at the body to see if there was any damage, I couldn't find anything till I look at the windshield and find this..

Some asshole threw it over for whatever reason. I got so mad so I reported it to the police.. I talked to the neighbor who lives there and he agreed to pay for a new windshield. Now I'm looking around and the prices are pretty crazy, anyone know where I might find one for cheap.?

    Thanks for looking r3v

    Love yah.!

The price is not YOUR problem. I would of been kicking someone's ass over that.

That sucks man, I had my rear glass shatter and thankfully replaced by insurance. Unfortunately, its not original BMW glass and was still over $300 to replace.

If I were you, I would try to find some original BMW glass from a junk yard. Good luck.

I would never get junkyard glass if the option for new is available. I got a new windshield from PGW and it's absolutely fine. Cost just over $100 and installed with no issues.

Change the gasket while you're in there and roll that into cost of replacement.

^ Every bit of this. You simply want to try and avoid glass manufactured in China.

I've heard some bad things about the Chinese stuff out there. Some of those brands (XYG, I think) are used by Safelite and other larger companies. I believe Pilkington is supposed to be decent. Pittsburgh Glass Works (PGW) is part of PPG I was told (Pittsburgh Paint and Glass). When I had my windshield replaced, I called around to several glass shops until I found one that could get PPG/PGW. The dealer quote was pretty outrageous. I bought an OEM gasket that I supplied to the shop. This was a few years ago but I'm pretty sure it was under $200 to have it done (not including the gasket I bought).

OE glass from the dealer is still available for $245. I just bought one a few months ago.

If you went over there and dumped out their bottle of Absolut, you can bet that they wouldn't be ok with you buying a bottle of Bukov to replace it, and calling it even.

Just tell the guy the cost to replace the windshield with exactly what is on there now, end of story.

                        THIS ^^^

Price is not your prob. Maybe even just stick with the dealer parts and have them get it done.

my PPG was only like $150 with a lifetime warranty (defects etc). that was a few years ago but i don't think that went up to $500.

still, avoid the chinese garbage like the plague.
