BMW newby checking in

Hi everyone, Im a first time BMW owner here. Got a 89 325iS coupe, 5 speed, previous owner neglected a lot of the maintenance on her, so Ive been busy getting all that corrected.

Love this little car though!



And look at the shitty rear speaker set up, I did NOT do this.


Car had a tree fall it at one point, so I plan on getting this all bondod out smooth and painted. Im kind of tossed if I should match and blend the red, or go glossy plastidip anthracite grey.

I'd have the repair painted just so that if you end up getting tired of the dip and peel it there will be something nice looking underneath.

Actually traded my 95 gmc Z71 for it, went from 8 mpg to a whole lot more!

Reality was both were worth about the same, but the guy didn't want the stereo in the GMC, so I did get to keep all that.
Intake boot was shredded,
the 90 bends off the throttle body need jb welded in,
the ICV was gunked up pretty bad,
Valves need done (this weekend if everything goes as planned)
Passenger rear shock is messed up, the bar goes right through the top of the mount. Honestly not sure if I need a new rear shock, or a new top plate.
And the rear tires are bald,
Oh and the accordion flex pipe is leaking, (exhaust taped for now) And I need new doughnut gaskets in the rear of the exhaust too.

If you guys know what gaskets I need back there would help me a lot, as well as how you guys are fixing a leaking accordion flex pipe?

Nice. Can't go wrong with an amicable trade.
I'd bet replacing the shock mount is all that's needed as long as the tower itself isn't rusted or bent up in some way. It's a common failure, especially if the car is lowered.

What accordion flex pipe? My exhaust doesn't have any flex pipe. There are little metal donuts that should seal the pipes together, they're like $3 each. I found a mercedes part that cross referenced when I did mine, the local napa had it in stock but would have had to order the BMW specific one.

Its the little accordion shaped flex pipe right under the headers, right before it bolts to the cat/ mid pipe. Those gaskets that bolt from exhaust manifold to mid pipe are still good, but the rear ones are shot too.

1200 for that is a decent price. Next thing to focus on would be all maintenance (general as well as preventative) the previous owner neglected to do. Good pick up.

That's correct on a COLD engine.

awesome, still need to find the correct rear exhaust donut gaskets, not hangers or isolators.

And need to know how you guys fix that accordion in the mid pipe/ cat unit.

I see what part your talking about. Looks like you may need the whole pipe or get a good one from a junk yard and use the band style clamp to connect it after cutting out the old section.

That one has a conventional flex joint!
Yea Im going unbolt everything replace gaskets, and try and just weld in a piece of pipe in place of the flex section.

I snapped a pic of that rear shock, crappy picture for sure! The shock housing doesn't look wet, so what part do I need to correct this?
