To Op, put a metal bar on the front of your car, attach it to two horses. Bam horsepower.

Edit: Damn Farbin beat me to it.
I bet you wondered how I put that in your mind.

V-tec stickers should help. But remember, it's not how many you put on but where you put them!

To take that even further, you could drive off a cliff and accelerate 9.8 meters per second squared

So someone who's never owned a car wants a manic daily driver? Flawless plan.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

OPs face when he realizes how much work and money it actually takes to make a legit fast car like you see on youtube:

You could buy a car that already had a swap done to it.

                          Hey Portugal,

BMW sold a rare car exclusively in your country, the 320is. it has a 2 liter s14 in it.

buy that, buy only OEM parts for it, keep it going, and don't fucking wreck it.

I'm gonna go ahead and say please don't buy that as your first car and wreck it. Not a good investment anyway for someone who can't take care of it properly

Gut it, less weight will make it accelerate faster, brake better, sound louder inside and give it that racecar feeling you want
