It was going well, until the "no manual transmission in US" part. Why not offer it? If no one orders it, then you are not out anything. Unless a different trans requires separate emissions / crash tests (Which I doubt, as the trans affects none of that)
Having driven the flap stick M5, and the 6spd... I can honestly say that it's pointless having a clutch pedal in these cars. Not only is it slower, but it just doesn't feel right for what the car actually is. If I had the money to buy, sure I'd probably get the 6spd just for the ease of maintenance. If I had more money, I'd get the auto.
F10 m5 > e39 m5 > e34 m5 > e28 m5. E60 m5 is the only m car i absolutely dont like, eventhough it sounds pretty good. But the power on that f10 is so much fun especially in a manual. Dct is cool if your worried about shift times but manual over anything.

dude, this is R3v. there's like 40 project threads, and like 20 FS threads and 100 members ride threads of stupid shit. guaranteed laughs on every page. cut springs, rolled cars at 20mph, fishtank heater core, selling broken stuff, painting cars with paint brush, cheap wings, hella-flush and then there is Vlad, king of the eta M3
I've really liked every M car. Sure I prefer the older ones because they are the heart of what M stood for, but the new ones play their role pretty well and are nuts to drive. Except the X5M/X6M... Fuck those things.

Gotta hand it to BMW. They take a 'milestone' most new BMW owners aren't aware of.....take a particular car.....slap on some commemorative badges, special paint, do some very minor tuning.....then jack up the price. I can't imagine what these 'lucky' 30 in the US will shell out for this thing.
I've read a lot about the current M5. It's ok I suppose, but I don't find myself clamoring for one. I'd rather take an E60 with that glorious sounding V10. The noise that thing makes.....especially with a tuned exhaust.....damn.
Still have much respect for all past generation M5s. The one common trait they all share is great NA powerplants. These new turbo offerings from Bavaria just aren't my cup of tea (or stein of beer).

I'm stuck between the e39 and e60. There is something so glorious about an e60 with an eisenmann exhaust, but then the looks of the e39.
