I bought mine used on here, but I think it's like $150 new.

Completely shit house. No redeeming qualities at all.

Completely fucking amazing. Especially with the shift rod. Everyone, man and woman, loves to get their hands on my knob now :giggle:

But seriously, once you get over the notchy feel, and if you can live with the stiffer mounts, it's just stupid how precise this thing is. Places the knob up higher in the perfect position too, looks great, feels pretty amazing. It really is a good product, though probably not for everyone as it comes with some trade offs. Id say it was the best all round (price, feel, looks, etc) E30 shifter ever made and recommend everyone run out and buy one if it wasn't for the trade offs when using one.
Just a little project im working on

Whoops, realized I posted a photo of my old shift knob instead of the lighted one. Here's what the lighted one looks like:

What are the tradeoffs? I'm currently in need of re-doing all my shifter bushings, and going full retard (CAE) looks a bit spendy for a shifter.

IE has a UUC style short shift kit and DSSR now. I am thinking about picking it up because of its fully welded shifter. I have the z3 1.9 shifter now and only complaint is the shifter itself is held by rubber and can flex/spin in your hand.

The E46 M3 M Performance knob is really nice. Full length, weighted, no metal ring.

CAE for feel, hands down. I've gone through bimmerworld, and akg chassis mounted shifters and they simply cannot compare to my CAE. Now for looks in a stock looking car I would still go for an akg or bimmerworld solid shifter as you can cut them down to length and have good feel + stock looks.

This is purely anecdotal, but the BavAuto shifter/boot that I installed is actually lighter than the one it replaced but it significantly smoothed out the shifting. I can't explain it, but it was noticeable. Very comfy in the hand as well.

I've got a dibed DTM style. Works well once warm but can be a pain to get into gear on a cold morning. Might be worth mentioning that it's also got a UUC DSSR in there.

To each his own tho. I'm partial to my BW shifter and jaffster setup.
I can't imagine going back to a normal shift knob after using my delrin one...
