Are the bumpers the same on 88 vs 87 and earlier? I know pre 88 they stick out farther but are they the same just different bumper shocks or something?

88's had the same bumpers as early model cars, but different, shorter shocks.

August is still an 89. The model year changes are typically september or later.

Now I'm all curious. I'll need to go decode my VIN again.

^In my experience it's true. More like 70-80 though, fuckin pass. side pop out closed shut.
