chances are if the ball joints are worn out then the control arms have bent out of shape over time. good chance they wont go back into the control arm bushings once you get the new ball joints back in them. my friends car was in my garage on jack stands for two weeks when we tried this because he had to order control arms.

          WTF are you talking about?

Control arms don't "bend over time" and i would much rather keep my original BMW arms than run some arms made who knows where to someone else's standards. Grab some OEM lemforder joints and press them in.

Can't get the control arm into the CAB ? You're not trying hard enough.

OP, any machine shop or decent mechanics shop should be able to do this for you. It is not a big deal.

Most of the large chain auto parts stores will "sell" you a press kit, and refund you the total amount when you return it. Pressing them isn't that hard. Use liquid dish washing soap to press the new ones in. If the old one is worn out, it will press out fairly easily after spraying with PB Blaster or something like that.

bullshit they don't, both control arms had flexed over time to the point where akg poly bushings wouldn't allow the lollipop to bolt back into the chassis, new control arms went in without a hitch. and before you say it, no the car had never been wrecked. maybe flexing your oem rubber bushings back into the factory mounting points works for you but that wont work for akg poly bushings. and on top of that the control arms that came off of my car (still had them in the scrap pile) measured differently from end to end than the new ones that went on his car.

yeah, they got bent from hitting something. they are forged steel, you don't just bend those over time.. If you think steel bends like that, you don't know anything about metallurgy.

                        then neither does turner motorsport

"Control arms also take abuse from impacts and handling forces. Aluminum control arms will generally bend and prevent an accurate alignment. Steel control arms will crack and fracture and require close inspection annually and replacement every 3-4 years."

true, but they can also bend from an impact. a friend's car hit a curb at 80mph and his iron control arm was all bent up, not cracked. HOWEVER, constant stress from bad roads with stiff suspension will create stress fractures. This could corrode over time to allow the control arm to actually fracture, but we're talking a VERY long time.

I'm just wondering how your control arms were bolted to the frame rail with AKG bushings while they were "bent over time", then you weren't able to bolt them back up again. Are you sure you didn't mess something up, like in an accident?

Turner is also the one selling the arms. Of course they'll tell you shit to persuade you into buying new ones.

The only cars control arms bend on are e30 tourings......Jerry....and that's to fit them between the taillights that are one piece.

you have fucking terrible internet grammar. I mean, in person it's passable as english, but damn, get you behind a keyboard and i can't even get upset that you're wrong about tourings because I spend so much time trying to understand what the hell you're saying. also, you're kid is impractical as she does not have control arms.
