It is an ugly E30. It will be quite a machine with the Euro 3.2 that he has planned though. However, I just can't picture that t-case withstanding the torque load of a 320horse/280tq S50. Oil pan will require a hack job to clear (include?) the front half-shafts.

Would be a fast car, but I just don't see the real reason to use the iX Touring as a platform. You can't assume that it would be a rocket off the line, because the Tourings are heavy, plus the weight of the AWD system. And too many drag launches with a heavy setup like that will murder the t-case. And on the highway, AWD creates a lot of drag. And on the track, it's still a heavy station wagon with AWD.

In my opinion, an E30 M3 or 325 coupe with an M50 would be a better choice.

I agree. this is why he should sell it to me, or trade me for my 325e

The photos of the car still look like somewhere in the US. Until I see it with a familar US looking background I am skeptical about where it's located.

                        Just me thou?

I know for a fact that this car is in the US. The pictures may be when the car was in Europe but it's in NC now.
