1988 BMW e30 M3 -- only 79,000 miles,, TRADE FOR LOTUS AND CASH (northern va)
The Euro 190e 16v Cosworth is way more refined, better equipped and an overall 'nicer' drive. They can also be had for a quarter of the price.
However.... your still right :)
I actually prefer the 2.3-16 Cosworth to the M3 by an enormous margin. However I think the e30 series as a whole beats the crap out of the entire rest Mercedes-Benz product line combined.
As much as I like the E30, it has been overhyped and very overpriced. This is all reminiscent of my S13 240 days. Only difference is that there was no top of the line model 240. They were all KA powered pieces of shit. lol

I have to agree but the same attributes are what I don't like about it. You don't buy a 25 year old car for it's refinement, equipment (that seldom works anymore) and overall 'nicer' ride, do you? If you want that, just buy a regular 190 or a newer car. It's supposed to be a sports sedan / race car not a Cadillac. I will give them credit for keeping the dogleg in the US car but sucks they had to neuter the already underpowered engine though...and people talk down on the S14 lol.
I do hear you though, at the end of the day, it's still an E30 and people are spending some BIG dollars on them. Just goes to show there is more to the car than just the car itself.
This^ if we wanted faster or better...we would be buying the e46 M3. s54 from factory, 5 lug from factory, gut it to be light and a better suspension design. All I see is a bunch of jealous kids hating on their OWN community. WTF is wrong with you guys? I don't know one single elitist e30 M3 owner on this forum(not saying they are not out there), but I know a handful of elitist non M owners. I have had my opportunities to buy the e30 M3 a few times, wished I knew how much they would skyrocket in these passing years. I personally do not find them that good looking, but I do not make fun of them, I respect the racing heritage.
I think you folks miss the point of an E30 M3. It was produced as an all out racing platform, which it did very well in it's day. Because of the rules, 500 had to be made and sold to allow it to complete. The consumer versions were not anything like the race cars in suspensions and other things. But a full up race version is a real hoot to drive, though you will hardly ever get a chance to get your hand off the shift lever and your left leg will get a real workout.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
