If you contest it and he's not there, you walk.
    Let's go exploring!

True story. This happened to my brother once. He got a speeding ticket in which a CHP airplane clocked his speed then dispatched a cruiser to finish the job. The officer on the ground appeared in court but the pilot didn't. The ticket was dismissed.

        Yup thats true,

if the cop didnt give you a break, take it to court. worst case is you pay the ticket anyways, but you get a chance of it getting reduced or dropped. You cuold try to snake your way into going to a drivers ed class

The cop lowered it from 51 in a 35 to 50 in a 35, which is like a 50 dollar difference. This is my second ticket in 6 months so it has to be dropped otherwise both tickets go on my record. I got a lawyer and i'll let him take care of it. What do you think my chances are? I have heard lawyers can get you out of almost anything.

You broke the law and need to pay the consequences, the officer gave you a break yet you want more. Nice.

Yea, I'm not one for the whole lecture on speeding. There are many roads marked 35 where during parts of the day 50 is completely safe.

I'll be fighting my ticket too.

Two tickets in six months = no respect for the people also on the road around you, or the law.

                      Why aren't retroactive abortions legal?

Despite the racist overtoneas, I will help you, although I dont feel compelled to. Seeing as my last name is Garcia, I suppose Im an illegal as well? Born and raised in Hollywood, oooh poop.

Anyways, if you take it to court and contest it, since the police officers get paid overtime for just showing up, they show up about 85% of the time, along with them seeing your face when they do and being able to testify by recognising you. On the other hand if you ask for a "trial by written declaration" its basically a trial by mail. You have MANY more ways you can beat this and Ill tell you why. FIrst of all, they have to write in their version of events, as do you. In the time that this happens, they will not remember your particular case in the many tickets that they write a day for months. Another is they have to do it on their own time, no overtime pay, so there is another way to dissuade them from filling out more paperwork. Yet another is that if they dont write anything back to the judge, you instantly win and get your bail refunded (even if you only wrote "Im not guilty"). And the last is this, if you lose, you can ask for a "trial de novo" which is the ONLY place in the american legal system where you can ask for another trial because you are unsatisfied with the results of the first one. But this is one that is face to face with the judge and the pig. If you have a decent case, the judge will see that you have SOME motivation and knowledge to pursue this to the limit of your rights. This is California, though, so I dont know how your laws are. Ive gotten my brother off of 4 tickets and myself off off 3 this way. Its very effective. At worst you have a 50/50 chance in most cities in L.A. Unless its West Covina, Burbank, or Glendale (ask me how I know) lol. Theres some knowledge for you, but what do I know? Im just a spic. ;) At very least you delay having to have it go on your record for a good amount of time.

Shut up, suck it up, act like a damn man. It IS your fault. You were speeding, and you got hosed. Now lets all whine about it and think of manipulative ways to get around paying the ticket!!
Who the hell cares that you got a speeding ticket? I am sure we all will have one at one point in our life, and 99% of us already have one. You are not special, so just either A) go to traffic court or B) pay the fine. It is your choice to press the gas pedal down, so PLEASE stop asking people how to get out of speeding tickets. Also, on a related note, if you think driving stoned and drunk means you are a bad ass, I want you to go outside and play in traffic. By posting both of these types of horsecrap, you are making the e30 owner look like a pothead loser who is out to argue with authority, even when it is blatantly your fault. You are driving a 2800 pound car (alright, m10's 2600 ), so you should NOT be driving around under the influence. If you post a sob story where you were driving under the influence and you wrecked your car, I will send you a card stating how much you deserved it.
So to recap: Stop. Honestly, no one cares. We have been / will be in the same boat as you one day, and the ones who have a sack will fess up to their mistakes.

If alky is invloved, suck it up like a man. Trust me, if you let it, all the classes and programs you have to go to will help you. I would know. You never know when you getting pulled over might have saved you, or some innocent persons life. But no one tells those stories because you cant tell when they do or not happen. Im the last person to think all corny like that, but once you reach a certain age, the stakes get higher and you can think on another plane.
