    R3V knowitalls...identify this engine..*pic*

    some rather elder gentleman has a "performance built" bmw engine that has been sitting in his garage for years and says it's "rare".

    this is the picture he sent me.

    I can't make it out...

    what do you think it is?

      It's a 24v, either an m50 or an s50

        I wish I could tell from just the pic whether its infact a S or M motor...he's 3 hours away and either old or disabled...

              Intake mani, valve cover, exhaust all points to OBD1 24v. S50/M50 needs closer inspection to tell.

                  trans is a g250 almost positive. but yea hard to tell m50/ s50.

                        Exhaust manifold are cast iron, not tubular steel, so that means M50 not S50, correct?

                              I hypothesize it was pulled from a 6cyl swapped Ti, thus the gentleman thinks it's rare since all Ti's are 4cyl.
