Well, they have a purpose.

Mal is like, sometime/once/anytime so throwing it in a command basically means "Do this! When you can get around to it." Doch is like when your girlfriend asks you, "Could you do this for me?" She isnt going as far to say please, she isnt asking you, but she is making it seem like she is.

They show up often in languages that have formal voices.

The teacher last semester pretty much told us that you have to goto Germany to really understand them, and then they just come naturally. Thanks though, makes more sense that way.

I'm not exactly a fan of racism. But then again I'm a fan of free speech. If I want to make a racist comment (99% of the time I'm joking) then I feel I should be able to make it and not have some "joe" on the other end of a computer pop a blood vessel about it. I got a mexican kid that works with me. I'm his boss. My boss looks at all the guys in the office and askes who stole his broom. Then the mexican guy looks at the boss and askes why everyone is looking at him. I make the comment "Cause you look the most like the janitor in the room". We get a good chuckle. He tells me thats messed up. Since I'm his boss.... I say something to the effect of.... "Be careful or I'll have you out doing yardwork". I can see the honest displeasure on his face. After we all clear out of the office I pull him aside and apoligize. I made sure he knew that what I had said was 100% a joke. Granted, it was at his expense.... but thats part of being a man eh?
