someone would really have to love spending money, writing, and donating their time.

Print media is pretty much tapped out.

considering how much time many waste daily on here, I doubt that would be a problem finding people to contribute.

The e30 isnt' attracting kiddies anymore. It's ownership demographic is aging just like the cars, and range in income too.

Maybe not print media, but a monthly newsletter I'd be interested in contributing any of my resources to.

If anyone wants to take this further, PM me. Below is a review on youtube I did of my e30. I was planning on doing reviews of classic euro cars, but decided to do reviews on more current cars, with a channel that could land me some REAL work in the automotive industry.

This is just a rough review, but the next ones will be more "polished"

stiggy's argument is valid, but there is nothing like having a nice glossy magazine full of pretty pictures. even better would be photos of your own car in full glossy glory. ie: a hard copy that you can take into the bathroom with you and stick the pages together.

And how many magazines did you walk out of there with today?

          Exactly.

No one is gonna buy an mag devoted to E30's.

Actually i bought to magazines when i was there. If a e30 magazine did exist, it would not be on newsstands. I see being a subscription you can buy through r3v or maybe even the bmwcca.

I would love an e30 mag, but due to low distribution it would be very expensive. It's not that I don't want it, I'm just being realistic.

It's economics, plain and simply there isn't demand enough unless it was created in a non profit way.

writing, editing, printing, distributing, storing.. paper.

it would be cool, but the E30 market I don't think is as big as it seems.

but if you want to make it happen and have the means and drive to do so, by all means do it..

                  I haven't bought a magazine since about 1997.

I think it would be cool. I would probably envoy it. I don't think it would work.

The e30 community is a very resourceful group. It's impressive how creative and efficient people are. So many of the common modifications, and even the allure of the car itself, is how much you can do for so little. Why spend a huge amount of time and money building an engine when to can cram in a newer, more powerful package from a junkyard? Why build up THAT motor when you can stuff a turbo in? Why pay for big name aftermarket parts when you can modify, adapt, or build them yourself? Why pay a ton of money for a shiny new BMW when you can take this old platform and upgrade to match the performance for pennies on the dollar?

Unfortunately, that translates to "why pay for a magazine when I can get that content for free?"

The e30 community is cheap, IN THE BEST WAY! It's why it's such a great community, and why so many amazing cars get created. It's why this site (or any hobby forum, really) has as much knowledge as it does. It's the best return on investment available.

Unfortunately, unless you get a lot of advertising dollars to back a magazine or newsletter, the mentality that makes r3v'ers r3v'rs is going to be what keeps them from spending money on content they can get for free.

                          What Andy said.

Nice idea, but I don't think it would fly.

I'd be interested in contributing. I always enjoyed my creative writing classes when I was in college. I don't have the $ to help, but I can proofread/edit and help do write-ups
