Absolutely. Unfortunately, Philly to Seattle is a $5-600 flight, plus the $500 in gas (2800mi), plus wear and tear on the vehicle, plus food, plus a week off of work, etc. It's a lot more cost effective for me to have it shipped, despite that it would be sweeet to road trip it home. -
I've always flown out and drove it back. Nice thing about being in the middle, everywhere in the US is no more than 2 days of red bull, mountain dew, pop rocks, Mcdonalds, and coffee away.Leave a comment:

Suspension and paint first, but that's the plan!!
Man, I didn't think about it, I should've had you do a PPI for me
Absolutely, and thank you for the response. Budget really isn't an issue, granted I don't want to overpay, but I'm much more concerned about the quality/care of the shipper rather than the best priced option. Thankfully you can buy insurance through Uship and the reviews are pretty readily available for each company!Be careful. Insist on seeing a current insurance policy and dont go with the cheapest bid.. Check feedback. As you know these guys are all sub contractors and a lot of them are scumbags. I sold a shell to a r3v member in NY and the driver ripped the core support clean thru dragging the car sideways in my cul de sac. He was late and nobody was there to supervise the loading unfortunately. He of course lied and said it was like that upon pick up. Just be careful. The cheapest isnt the best if you care about the car
I had him document those areas for me because of what I went through on my red car! I think the struts are just toast, as there wasn't any rust in there, thankfully.
My brothers iX had that sag too, and was corrected with Billys!Leave a comment:

Nice!! Keep an eye on either those rear springs (snappage) and/or where the rear springs sit on for rust. Friend had a similar sag and he had both.Leave a comment:

That actually really helps, thank you! I set up an account and set up an auction for the guys to bid. The trip is 2800mi from WA to PA, and the auto quotes were at $1100, which isn't too bad, so I'll be curious to see how the 'bids' pan out.you should try going on Uship.com. I just shipped a car and I used it to find a transport company. The car had a flat tire and wasnt running but it was no problem. You can ship it on an open trailer or enclosed, single or multi car on top or underneath the other cars.
The website lets you post an auction for bids for your car (they bid down), or you can accept a rate that the website suggests. For payment, you accept a bid and then pay the website, then when the car is delivered you release the payment to the transporter. It's a safer way to pay in my opinion.
You can also put insurance on the car through the website. They do charge a service fee of about 10% or so, mine was $25. Also just a note a good rate would be about $1 per mile round trip. Anything less than that is pretty good and the highest you should pay would be about $2 per mile.
Hope this helps
Turns out shipping a car isn't too difficult!Leave a comment:

Shipping Companies
Hey all-
I just purchased an iX in Washington in effort to find a rust free vehicle, and was wondering what shipping carriers you have used successfully in the past.
The car would be going from WA to PA.
Thanks in advanced!Tags: None
