Hey guys I was instructed to come to this forum from some of the guys at E30 zone. great guys over there and I am already getting some good information from them. So lets get to the point. I want to upgrade a few things like...chip, throttle body, manifold, cams, exhaust, wheels. But I am a novice and I have no idea where to start and where to go to get information to begin this project. This is my first Bimmer and I bought it in July of '03. The car is in excellent condition owned by an OLD couple and garaged. Needs some minor work, nothing fancy but I have no idea what to do and what I can and can't do. I want to learn about the car. So where do I find the specs and information on this car? Next is upgrades and I am assuming that I can pretty much use all the mods from a regular 325i or SE....??? As far as I know is the engine the same as an 325i except the oilpan
the front suspension, tranny and brakebooster is also only for an iX
body parts are the same
If I'm wrong correct me guys i'm not so familiair with iX'ers

most of the engine parts are the same, you can do chips, exhaust (cat back systems for a normal 325i fit the ix), etc. Things like suspension and wheels are different though. Front brakes are the same, rear are a bit different. Most of the things people do to a 325i will work on an ix, but you have to be more specific if you want us to tell you for sure.Comment

I suggest you learn more about the cars before you dig in. Also, I suggest that you get all your maintenence sorted out before you start upgrading.Comment

Digitalwave that is why I am asking because I have no idea and I need some help in finding out about the iX then finding out what I can and can't do. Idealy it would be cool to chat with someone who is an iXer who has done the mods I am looking to do. So I need help and lots of infor guys. Thanks....Comment
