200 bucks buys a pretty good hooker.

That'll help you forget that you're asking the internet how to blow your weekly paycheck from cinnabon on cheap shit for your car.

best 200 buck mod..... replace items the prevent you from going to the store with out breaking down....fix dents in the car and replace faded and broken pieces.... a nice stock car is far better than a slightly modded pos

My favorite mod so far.... better than the s52... better than porsche brakes... better than coilovers and cornerbalancing...

a nice aftermarket steering wheel... my personal fave is a MOMO champion with a teqnik quick release... it makes driving soooo much nicer and its less than 200 usually... if there is one thing i would send teh extra money on it would be a nice steering wheel.... just my .02

I'm with you. One of the first things my euro car got was the Nardi Woodline steering wheel. To me, it's what you have the most amount of contact with, therefore you get to really appreciate the money you spend on it every time you drive it. Same for shift knobs.

So the m3 is the only car that you could get the maplight mirror from the factory? My iS has one, I should probably sell it eh?

The best $200 you could spend is to fix all the shit that breaks on your car when you r3v it on the streets, instead of calling your E30 a "project car." This post is projected at nobody in particular.

              steering wheel

strictly as ‘modifications’.. maintenance/upkeep not included

well done/worth doing mods after that (suspension, cosmetics, ice, Alpina dead pedals, etc.) start to easily pass $200 limit.

Oil, coolant, trans/diff fluid, a few filters, and if you've got anything left, a SSK of somekind.

The rear view mirror with map lights also came on some of the cabrios. I think this is because they didn't have the other dome lights. I had a rear view mirror with map lights retroffited into my '87 325is. I like it, though I wouldn't call it the best mod.

If anyone does not have just the regular sport steering, I think it is perfect for feel, and they are under $100 to pick up. The spokes are perfect at 3 and 9 with just a little thumb indent to hook the thumbs.

Also picking up a set of used sport seats to replace the stock seats will make the driving experience a lot better as well.

No sir - cabby rearview mirrors are sans maplights - they mount differently (to the windshield) - I've tried fitting one to my car, but with little luck.

PS - we get a dome light to the right of the check panel in the overhead ;)

Auctually, if you pull the cover off above the check panel. One of the side lights fits perfectly in there. I had an exrta one for my 325i I just never wired it in. Should be easy though (assuming you have an electric sunroof) there should be a 12+ right above it.

I was thinking for the non-cabby owners that would like a light upfront where it would make sense and auctually do something.

I would recommend a European plate, makes the car more aerodynamic, handle better and adds at least 40HP. Plus you get the benifit or being able to tell cops your are from Europe and still have yet to adjust to the slower speeds since you drive on the autobahn. Saying this in German helps also.

                              I am not serious!!!!

Nope, it seems that BMW put these in many of the later (90-91) E30 325i/is' - don't know if they were just trying to get rid of them or what. Same with the glass sunroof panel.........

Can't remember who was the first to post it, but I would agree that the best $200 you can spend to improve your car is on a track event. Until you've actually done one (or 1000), you will never understand...........
