I've yet to watch it, but I'd say it's most likely an M42 powered car. Some of you that don't have any track experience would be amazed by the way a momentum car can pull a high HP car on a short straight when the high HP car isn't able to carry as much speed (whether that be due to the driver or some other circumstance). That's why he'd be pulling on higher dollar machinery, but like I said, I've yet to watch it. So I could very well eat them words.
No eating of words for you, the engine is a M42/M44 mix, so a strong 150 hp engine, 7k rpm limit.
On the ring it's fairly easy to catch and pass faster cars with slower drivers due to the nature of the circuit and the blind corners.

The car has good suspension though and is very light, doesn't even have a heater and is just let down by the manual rack so goes well for the power as well and Dale definitely does know his way round.

I was doing around 8:30 btg with similar power in a heavier car and you can see there's margin for improvement in that lap, so all in all a good lap but nothing extraordinary as been said.

Thanks for the confirmation. After watching the video I was pretty sure it was a stock or mildly modified M42 up against slower drivers, but that confirms it.

          The sound in that video^

I had my 318is stripped down to a little around 2,100lbs with me in the car. Mild cams, AC, PS delete and an electric fan... That car was not slow...

At the end of the day its still a 318. Sorry, I just have a obsessive hate for 318's.

He seemed to me that he was a pretty good driver keeping his entry and exit speeds high, thus keeping the car in the sweet spots. You can also watch how he is steering the car and fighting to keep it in check, I never saw the back end "come out" so he did well here as well. Is the car fast? absolutely for what it is if the description is accurate. Going down interstate 40 at 140 and through a race track at the same speeds is a hole different world watch some of Elva's video's. But I will state I am a novice so my opinion isn't worth much.

God damn. No way that is a stock M42 in there. Regardless if it is or not, that's a quick lap.

The difference between owning a car and loving one? Dale's new purchase could be the perfect example
