Anything air related it's Ingersoll or bust. Pretty much guaranteed rebuild parts availability - that's if something actually breaks.

Anything from this page will do

As to OP's question, don't buy junk. Yes, sears/harborfrieght/whatever stuff has lifetime warrantys, but it's a massive pain to be in the middle of a job and have a tool that you absolutely need break... especially if said job involves your only working car. $1000 will get you a VERY comprehensive, quality tool set for the average hobbyist. For now though, buy this:

        and this

One of my old coworkers had a set of sunex sockets for like... 10-15 years. Used daily (I used to work in a shop) and apparently he's never had one break. You'll be able to do 95% of all jobs with this socket set AND they'll be good for when you get an impact gun.

Armstrong is one of the suppliers for Matco. I basically have the same wrench, just with more gear teeth (smaller swing between "clicks"). High quality stuff.

Both items I listed can be had in 3/8" drive as well. Just add your flavor of extensions and you're good to start working

I don't have air at the house so I went with a cordless. I just got this one and it's great.

Man.. At my highschool we have a few tool chests of super old snap on gear. Sockets ratchets drivers everything. 70's or 80's is my best guess. I love the stuff. Great feeling and lifetime return no questions asked. But can't get that for 200$...

Get the 3/8" version of the tools I posted earlier. They WILL NOT break, it's got almost every socket you'll ever need (save for 30mm axle nuts) and a slim wrench that'll fit anywhere you wanna put it (different armstrong wrench, about the same price as the 1/2 but slimmer and more flexy)

Yeah or it's bigger brother, the 261:

They make a Ti version of this too but I got that one well used and rebuilt it for a fraction of any other 3/4 option at the time. Got to love IR!
