In your defense, it's VC looks similar to a M106...

It is an S38 24V motor.

Looks like a big pile of junk with a great motor in it, kind of like a Camaro...

Speak a bit of French, so couple of key points. They chose the BMW lump as they thought the Mercedes V8 engine too heavy. They also thought the car should be discrete, hence the lack of any spoilers. Performance was on a par with the 911 Carrera, probably a cheeky dig at Porsche who built the W124 500E for Mercedes.

It's one sweet car, I've had a 230E and a 260E before and loved them, you just waft along. I'd kill to get my grubby mits on a 500E. Did say they'd swapped out the suspension for Bilstein kit, for the best as it would have been interesting running on the wallowy 300E factory suspension with that motor!

W124s are actually very nice cars, with great build quality although a bit heavy.

Hartge's brothers (Herbert for Hartge and Andreas for Carlsson) tought they can reconciliate Bmw and Mercedes with this monster. In vain

They say there only one unit of this car, maybe two if a crazy guy commanded one during writing this article for the price of 200 000 Deutschmark

Herbert Hartge decided to test the Hartge F1 within 1000km one the Old Nurburgring.

3 pilotes for this test, Herbert Hartge himself too

They pilot it 7 hours , 48 laps, they change 3 times of tires, and brakes every 10 laps

29L/100km, they had heavy feet ;)
