$12,000 on gas? holy shit. I know gas is expensive in Canada, but you must drive a hell of a lot.

I used to track everything but now I can't be bothered. I'm in the "it's better not to know" camp. :p

Yup, I do... I've been averaging around 60K km per year. I sub teach high school where I live... max distance to my schools is about 100 km one way. I also drive to Toronto at least every 2 weeks on the weekend to pick up my son (about 300 km round trip), and driving to my other job which is 60 km round trip. It adds up. LOL

I'm hoping to add a motorcycle to my stable next spring so I can take some pressure off the old girl.

Sub teachers can't be paid that high up there...man, you would be lucky to make enough to pay for gas.

How can he make enough to live? $26,000 in gas per year and that's after tax. The tax rate has gotten to be close to 40% in Canada, right?

I do alright when I get work.

I make just over $200 a day before taxes. A trip to my maximum distance and back home at current pump prices would run me about $15, based on my average fuel consumption of 7.8L/100 km.

I tried to cover this before, maybe I should update it. Knowing the actual cost per mile can really make you think about how you structure your driving.
Structured driving? What track day is this? I assume controlled passing is involved balls to the wall while sliding?

The more gas I put in
                  the less I care

Okay Sappho. Some of us just like to flagellate ourselves before the power that is spreadsheet and know what's what.

Well, he's not living the life he wants to, he's just being stubborn. You move in that situation. No questions asked. Especially since he's likely to lose everything when he inevitably falls asleep behind the wheel...

Some of you commenting on the 1900 km commute... you realize it's a satire piece, right?

Compared to new cars, e30s are cheap providing you have a good one to start with and don't go too crazy with the modding bug :D
