I dont see how it can even be close to totalled. My opinion though. Ive been there with the eta 2-3 times. Doesnt take much to total it, but that just seems like denting to me. I dunno.

The dent is worse than the photos depict. Think about the exact location of the dent...
Is it a bad dent? No, BUT: Tom is not at fault in the slightest, and should not be responsible to pay for this out of pocket. The girl that hit him can not afford to pay for it out of pocket, and therefore he will need to go through her insurance.

An insurance company isn't going to straighten and paint a 1/4 panel on an 85 318... (The car only books for like $1500, A cracked windsheild would practically total the car) haha...
I had a dent the same place on my old 91 318is which totalled it.

My ix was totalled, and it only needed a new fender, rim, and possibly a control arm. Insurance companies dont take to kindly to almost 20 year old cars.

Can she afford a drunk driving charge? Get her, her parents, the car's owner someone to pay for this. How can you be remotely responsible if she was drunk and you were parked?

Im well aware im not responsable, I was a block away from my car inside a house having a good time.
And the pictures dont really do it justice, its hard to see but the entire section of the qp where the chrome strip runs along is pushed in about 1/2 inch. They will have to repaint that section, and seeing how I have a 84 318, its gonna cost almost as much as the cars value.

As for the full e30 rebuild, James doesnt need to worry, I wont be picking another 318, Im gonna try and snag is really nice condition 325iS early model, drop my m52, my suspension, my wheels, and new sport interior and be done with it for now. I also have a new euro valance and bumpers coming.

That's why people are suggesting that the girl pay for the repair out of pocket instead of getting an insurance company involved. We all know that car isn't totalled, and that it is worth more than $1,500, especially with all the blood sweat and tears that went into that car.

You guys are funny, would you really want to have sex with a girl that ran into your car?

I'm thinking that it would only be sex in the most literal sense of the word, entailing your cock entering some part of her body that would constitute intercourse. No one said it had to be nice sex. :D

Right, but she doesnt have the money to pay for the repair.

And anyway, if the insurance co totals out the car with a $1500 payout, he has the option to buy it back for around... $300?

Ok, so you were nowhere around, yet I assume because she is a friend's girlfriend you have to lose money? Yet you get in Chris's face for making a statement you did not like?

It is your car, your money, your decision but seems to me if this friend is such a good friend he would help make it right instead of playing the friend card causing you to lose out.
