    Vin-Matched Door & Trunk Locks?

Is there a way that I can still obtain brand new VIN-coded door locks and a trunk lock?

I'm not talking having someone re-do the tumblers (had that done once, it was a mess...)

I figured since I've had a BMW parts shop order me an original VIN-coded ignition lock cylinder from Bavaria that this might still be possible as well, but not sure ....

Essentially, had my door & trunk locks re-keyed once to a new key (very poorly at that), then ordered a VIN-Coded ignition cylinder from the Munich.
Now, I'm trying to consolidate - having a separate ignition key and door key is annoying!

    Thanks!

Yes, same way you can buy VIN coded keys, but I think the tumbler rebuilt kit and a VIN cut key are the way to go. I already bought VIN coded keys and plan on buying a VIN coded ignition lock and rebuild kits for the door and trunk.

^ I wonder what the discrepancy in price is. My tumblers were "rebuilt" by that individual "who shall remain unnamed" and they are in worse shape than before.

The door lock cylinders now are very rough, and get stuck horribly (almost snapped off a key in the double-lock)...

I made a video of me rebuilding mine, it's really not that hard. I believe all you guys can do it if you read the tutorial I used and watch my video.

it's a bit long but that's cuz I was reading the tutorial and learning at the same time. Well worth doing it yourself for $25 a lock instead of probably $100+ per lock?

Link to tutorial is in the description in the video. The hardest part of this is taking it in and out of the car tbh

^ That only takes care of the driver's door lock. I don't think there's a kit to do the ign, and pass door and trunk locks.

Personally, I think I'd buy a complete used set and just replace them, but I would understand if you don't want to deal with used parts. And you have a new ignition that would basically be useless.

Although, now that I think about it, why couldn't you do the same with the trunk and pass. door? If nothing's broken, and it just needs to be matched to your key, I think you could do that. The rebuild kit for the driver's door lock comes with a ton of extra springs and tumblers (is that the right word?), wonder if they'd work for the other two locks? Just thinking out loud here.

Did do a rebuild kit, with that member who shall not be mentioned... he ended up making my doors worse, and I ended up undoing his work on the ignition cylinder myself, which says something about his workmanship (or lack thereof) but that's another story...

We rebuilt it, and it still has problems. I wanna just have brand new locks all around..
