    How far have you come?

Just wondering, how far has your knowledge progressed since you got interested wiht E30's?
I thank all the forums that have educated me. I just found my first post EVER. Here you guys go (Feel free to laugh):

Posted: Fri Jul 05, 2002 12:54 pm Post subject: intake, exhaust, header info

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, this is my first post, and my first BMW. I'm trying to find some information on some good intakes, exhaust systems, and headers. I'm not really looking for absolute top performance, just a bit more power (limited on funds). For the exhaust, something not too ricey (I live in Hawaii, EVERY person who has a nice car is driving a honda/acura. Everyone else just drives a junker until they can afford a honda/acura.)
Also, headers are the first on my list, because I just bought the car (not running, needs head work) and since we're already down into the depths of the engine, we might as well put on headers now

since I fell in love with the e30 bodystyle i've been on the boards for a few years now. My knowledge has grown so much, yet is still nothing compaired to most guys on here. I asked lots of questions before i even bought my car, so i knew exactly what i wanted and got pretty close to that. Now i'm finally able to help others out with questions they have. I look forward to making my car look preform how i picture it in my head.

yep, forums are what have kept me afloat... i would be a wandering, blundering, e30 idiot without all the people on the forums. i had the same ricer outlook when i first started, im glad i didnt stick with that.

my first post was on e30sport..... werd to TJ....
i was asking about what suspension i should run.... it was a general consensus that i should get ground control and konis..... guess what i got!
            and im loving it...

since joining the forum i have learned a ton about these cars. i dont post very much, but i read most of the tech posts. i get mad when someone answers the question before i can get to it.... but im not the kind of person that posts to say... yep he was right (that would be post whoring)

            thanks e30sport!!!

my first posts included whether or not i could mount a late model is spoiler to my eta and lowering it with kyb shocks with intrax springs. i remember tj saying "save up cash and do it right the first time" a year and some months later i've got a set of koni shocks waiting to be installed. now i need springs.

My first "posts" were on the old Welty BMW digest, circa august of '97. Pre-UUC digest, Pre-Mark Kibort, Pre-eram.

                Damn, I feel old.

First hopped onto BEN in either '98 or '99. I've learned a fair amount, but it only feels like the tip of the iceberg.

..it all started with an 84 eta and a Haynes Manual in '98. Ben followed shortly after that in '99 and the knowledge started when I actually started to work on my own cars. I stilll have a long way to go but can say that if its a common prob I know the suggested remedy if I have actually fixed or witness it get fixed....its a never ending process with each problem/issue being unique.

to the BEN guys, I first hit that board back in '98-'99 too. There're a few of the originals that still stick around that board, I visit once in a while. The guys on that forum know their sh*t. Most of my automotive knowledge I owe to that board, I've come a hell of a long way since I bought my car 5 1/2 years ago. Hell, I didn't even know how to change my oil.

BEN was my first forum "experience." Afterwards DTM Power, Roadfly, BayE30, BimmerForums, E3S, and R3V (pretty much in that order).

I can't remember what my first post was, but collectively all the forums have really taught me a lot about E30s. My younger bro owned 3 different E30 cars over the course of 9 years before being seduced by the elusive E36 M3 he has now. I've only been involved with E30s for about 2.5 years and I know A LOT more about them than my brother ever did....thanks in large part to these forums. The rest comes from experience. Gutting out my previous E30 after I totaled it taught me a lot about these cars.

First popped onto BEN in 2000, knowing absolutely nothing about cars.
