    Muscle Car Choices?

Which ones would you select from the past and the present? Classic T/As had style, and the Chrysler SRT8 Core seems to represent modern muscle best. Trying to get some idea on investment potential.:)

Modern muscle is almost an oxymoron. Chrysler is absolute garbage, they can build a vehicle that won't rust in the fist 5-6 years of its life anymore.

T/A's, MOPAR or old Mustangs would be on my roster for early Muscle.

Like I said about modern muscle, its almost a joke with all the emissions and crap required, I think that Ford and the mustang have done the best job of sticking to their roots.

    My opinion.

Thx. Yeah, I have heard about how the old cars are gaining value fast. And was wondering if any of the current cars had potential for zero mile storage.

A Hellcat has potential. But lots of people are doing that.

        Maybe a new M235 or or M4?

I have a 67 LeMans (V8, hardtop, 3spd). I'd like to pick up a 70 Charger and an early firebird.

Modern day classics? Surely not a 300c. It would be hard to judge. These cars have had 40 years to appreciate and they were revolutionary for their time. Current cars, like the 300c, hellcat, mustang, ect, are just rehashes of the same idea from back in the day. You are going to need something rather unique, such as a hellcat or a top model camaro. But who is to say these cars will even be legal to drive 40 years from now?

It would be political suicide to take American cars away from Americans! They will be grandfathered in, but no more will be produced.

I've always had a thing for 65/66 Mustangs especially the fastbacks. I think they're one of the smaller and lighter performance cars from the era, which I like.

I also have a little bit of a soft spot for this one just because it's a really beautiful car. Unfortunately it's big, heavy, and doesn't stop or steer very well. It's decently quick in a straight line, but uses a silly amount of fuel just driving around (<10mpg). So basically it looks and sounds good, but it's a complete piece of shit otherwise, lol. Anyways, here's an older pic of it, and it belongs to my dad.

Originally it was black, and would have looked like this:

As for the present, nothing. IMO the muscle car died some time back in early 70s. The closest thing I can really think of would be a Dodge Viper, but that's more of a sports car than a muscle car.

A nice '65 Mustang GT fastback will always be worth something. But I would get something from the 80's, like an El Camino, iroc Camaro, or an early fox body. Call me crazy but the 80's are the new 60's.

Are those the three choices? if so....

#1, The T/A will always be a times car in most peoples book and will hold value even the mid 70's model posted.

#2, Mopar A body. That one is a Dart Sport. Not the most popular of that style car, the Demon and Duster are better. If you want a Dart Sport that holds value. get a 340 or 360 car

#3, The four door thing... It will be a future DONK candidate to later generations when the DONK thing goes out of style and then comes back in style to those who may like it. Just think of the mid 80's 4 door Chevrolet Caprice

40 years is a very long time. 40 years ago it would have been political suicide to support gay marriage (or homosexuality in general), or support marijuana. Now not so much. With the current trend of anti-car culture and environmentalism, I will be surprised if personal drivable cars (let alone internal combustion) are legal to operate on public roadways in 2055. And now that I think about it, there are much better investments that'll yield the same return or higher within 5 to 10 years without taking the depreciation hit that the car will in the mean time.

Honestly, to answer your question, it's really a matter of which cars will mean something to the younger generation 20 years from now. I love 70's muscle cars because I when I was 16 in 1981 I wished I could afford one. It's the reason why our E30's are now popular with 20-40 year olds. It's also the reason that not many people are into the 40's and 50's cars anymore. Picking a car for a future investment is very difficult. Buy it because YOU like it and then drive, a enjoy it before you can't anymore.
