If you look at the numbers (resource consumption, population growth, degradation of the biosphere, diminishing returns) the world 50 years from now will surely be very different and may very well be much "worse" than today (depending on your measuring stick).

If I were a betting man I wouldn't "invest" in anything that runs on fossil fuels on the multi-decadal scale.

Just drive the thing and enjoy it while you and society are still in reasonably good shape. The future is anybody's guess, always has been.

"muscle car" can be an extremely wide range of cars.

Muscle Car: The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving.

My '97 cobra is considered a muscle car. SRA, 5 speed, with a 32v 4.6L. If you're looking for an "investment" but would like a little more modern technology I would consider one of these if you have the $$.
            1993 cobra R.5.0L

            1995 cobra R. 5.8L

            2000 cobra R, 5.4L 32v

Really any Cobra R (1993, 1995, 2000)will hold it's value very well. The '93 and 2000 cobra r's have gone up in price in the past couple of years. IMO, the 2000 cobra r will give you the best alternative. It has a DOHC 5.4L, 6 speed transmission with a built IRS in the back. It can also outhandle many newer imports with a lateral coefficient above 1.0g and was made to handle the beating of constant track use.

I'm very biased though. I've had 3 mustang and 2 of them are cobras. I will give some chevy and dodge muscle cars respect where it is deserved, but I have always been partial to Cobras.

I am a huge fan of the 03-04 Cobras too. That car started the horsepower wars in my opinion. Slap a fat Eaton on top of a V8 from the factory and look who followed suit. Everyone.

I agree any of the Cobra Rs too will be classic.

2005-2006 Ford GT. Brute Power and stunning looks. They're already appreciating.

For 60-70's muscle, I would look for a late 60's Camaro. I like the nimble look of those cars and the modification potential.

I damn sure wouldn't sell either one of my E30 M3's for one though haha.

Foxbody's are only going one way in the market and that is up in price. Get em while they are relatively cheap

it's funny because of all the 80's muscle cars, the fox body has actually aged pretty well. the Camaro and Firebird were total piles of shit. I mean, they seemed cool back in the day, but when you see one now you realize how badly designed they were. they basically took the monte carlo/cutlass body and put wedge shaped bumpers on it. And the build quality was absolutely horrid.

I know what you mean. Usually I'm not a big fan of the fox body platform. But when I see a clean fox it definitely catches my attention.
This is one of my favorite classic muscle cars.

For those saying we may have a no-driving future where today's cars will become illegal, obviously, it's still really not clear as to what will happen. I think we'll see muscle cars phased out, possibly anything pre obd 2 become illegal/track only. Think about what was possibly proposed in the 50s and 60's when people might have thought that flying cars of the 2000's would phase out muscle cars. We haven't come nearly as far as they imagined since we're still driving around mobile furnaces.

If today's cars in the future become weekend warrior track only cars I'd certainly still be up for it, and in this case they'd probably be worth more.

Flying cars were a retarded idea to begin with. Self driving cars are already a thing, as well as electric vehicles. Both are making serious advancements in a short amount of time. And as far as value going up because of track only use, I doubt it. One thing allowing classic cars to retain value (aside from their pedigree) is the fact you can take it out for a spin. Track time hurts the value on these cars as collectors see it as abuse.
