Wow..so this just happened to my fiance and me 3 DAYS AGO!!! My fiance and I kept arguing on who gets to drive so we said fine, we'll drive both of our cars (mine 325e and his; 325ix). We pulled out (I'm in front) of our house and was going to the gas station just about 10 secs. down the road. We were sitting in the road waiting to take a left when all of a sudden I hear screeching tires and that's when I look in my rear view mirror. In a matter of seconds, I see this 95 Chevy Truck slam into Jacob's ix and I had probably a split second to try and take off but I didn't make it. I did get bumped by Jacob but I'm guessing I minimized the damage for me since I took off. I was so angry and I didn't hide it. I was cussing out the window at the guy (now I wish I wouldn't have). I pulled into the gas station and when I got out and saw jacob's car...well, I cussed some more! This guy had to be going at least 45 (with about 15 ft. of tire marks).
Sooooo the damage:
Rear bumper pushed down
Huge gash in trunk
Trunk spoiler twisted
Suspension to hell
Sunroof doesn't work
Driver's seat twisted
Two big dents in left/right rear panels (so I'm sure the rear subframe is to hell also)
One body shop quoted "$2500" (and that doesn't include sunroof, seat and suspension) another quoted it totaled. Oh and not to mention how damn clean his ix was plus it only has 140,000 miles and brand new clutch :(
We're hoping to get at least 3,000 for it plus we're going to keep it. I was angry at first but now I'm excited. If all goes well and we can keep it then I get a 140,000 b25 motor to do my swap with. Awesome! Plus, I get all the interior and whatever else I want. AFter I take all that I need -- we're parting out everything else. That way we won't really lose too much money plus he has to get another car. More than likely, he's just going to get an e36...but I'll still have my e30.
So yeah, what they say...just fight it. We haven't got to that point yet but I'm thinking we'll have to fight it too. Good luck!Comment

Every group always has a karen and she's always a bag of douche! Whenever she's not around you just look at each other and go GOD KAREN-- shes such a douche bag!! Until she walks up...and you're like HEY whats up KARE!...theres always that one person....and some of you are like "hmmm i disagree" well you're the person! You're the person nobody likes!
ANYWAYS.
I just got my bodyshop quote of 1600$ to replace/repaint all the goods. I called the lady and gave her the price and informed her I would need a rental car for the 5 days its going to take to be fixed.
Her exact words were: "Well you know, i was hoping it was going to be more like 1000$". To which I chuckled. She said shes going to call me back this evening. I'm moving on and filling with her insurance. Between the car damage, rental car, and lost wages this girl has no chance if 1000$ is what sounds good.

check for any kinks in the quarter panel. it is likely your car has atleast minor frame damage.
also depending on how you got hit, inspect your exhaust all the way up to the exhaust manifolds. there is an expansion joint on your catalytic converter that could break.Comment

Yea, definitely. What I got was really a pre-estimate. They said it is very likely that once they dig into the car other issues might be found. Frankly, whatever. Its going on her insurance at this point. I'm just sticking to my guns from this point forward.tasty

Sorry this happened.
Take it to Beverly Hills Bodyshop. They are the shop B.H. BMW refers customers to and do amazing work. They were the only place that helped me with the frame specs when I had my accident even though they did not know me. (they fixed my Tii in 1984) which is how I know they are very good.
They are on La Cienega just south of Beverly where Fat Burger used to be.

LOL i talked to the owner of the truck that hit me the other day at pepboys...then after giving him the estimates, which were 3200 and 2700, he choked up and said "uh, ....oh, I thought it was only a small scratch. *does something with his throat/nervous?* well, i, uh, might have to think about this, and thats ah...might have to go through the insurance."Originally posted by BMW BMXERI hate when people rear end you and act as if you bothered them, then try to say dents are scratches and not to worry about it.Comment

This is exactly why I support standard transmissions. With automatics people have a free hand to play with their ipod/cellphone/makeup/whatever, which takes their concentration off the road. If they were actually having to use their right hand for a driving related activity we wouldn't have nearly so many of these stupid accidents based on lack of focus.

that and even if you lightly let off the brakes in an auto you start moving where as you pretty much gotta get all the way off the brakes to move at all in a stickYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

I don't think it would matter. instead of using one hand for the wheel and the other for shifting, they will steer with their knees and still use one hand to put on their makeup.Originally posted by Jordan325iCThis is exactly why I support standard transmissions. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone causes and accident, clearly is in the wrong, and then tries to be difficult.Originally posted by s0urceEvery group always has a karen and she's always a bag of douche! I would've told her, "We can do this one of two ways: The easy way, or the hard way. All I want is what is fair, to have my car fixed back to the way it was before. If you don't wanna play fair, then this is gonna ugly, real quick."
PS, I would've called the police and had a police report filed right then and there.Comment
