is it just the latest politically correct thing to make the statement "street racing sucks?"
cause i rip the streets up. i dont do it when its busy but if the streets are fairly deserted and someone with a worthy car wants to go i go.
it just appears as though everyone on this board claims they drive 30 mph and i know that aint true.

Twenty-something white male in a yuppie town with no real crime leads to a lot of bored cops with nothing better to do than harass cars. I get tailed and watched enough when I drive the e30 on the street as is, it's not worth the hassle to "play" on the streets. I try and do 2 track weekends a month anyway, so there's no real urge. A lowered, loud car with a roll bar, race seats, harnesses and all the other garbage makes it kind of a PITA to talk your way out of tickets. My DD is a 318ti, what am I going to race with that, KIAs?

i guess ive been lucky, i got pulled over for drifting thru a freeway onramp cloverleaf. the cop was spitting at me he was so pissed when he initially stopped me. he held me for 15 minutes running checks on me. i had my 22 yo son with me and i was really just showing him what the car was capable of. i normally dont drive like that and i explained that to the cop. he came back and gave me a warning ticket for running a euro front plate and said " i see this is set up for the race track with the roll bar and "nos" ( he thought my fire suppresion bottle was NOS". keep it off my streets and play on the track"
and let me go with just the warning. he was a good guy but i seriously thought my car would be towed. he could have hung me out to dry.
charlie, whats a track weekend cost out there? theres no way i can afford to do 2 track days a month. its 250-350 per event here depending on who you run with and thats before you burn up a set of r compounds
a weekend school out at the glen or with scca/bmwcca in new england costs around $500 for a 2 day weekend school, plus hotel, transportation, tires and brakes.
too much for me to be doing track days more than every couple months or more. if a car wants to go on the street and its safe and clear, i go too. never weaving around traffic, but i have some fun.

Yea, it's about 280-300 out here. That's why I drive a beat to hell stock motored e30 with takeoff 14 inch R compounds. I picked up this current set of RA1s for 15 bucks and got 7 days out of them. The spec miata guys ditch them after 2-3 races usually, and there's still life left in them. Ugly ass 14 inch bottlecaps have their purpose in life.
i havent been on the track at all this year yet. no time. its also more fun to go with someone and mtriple had to go and sell his car. he was fun to run with because we had equally capable cars and we also have similar driving skills. (no 20 year old "no fear" attitude).

Also, for those who don't know, negative camber is the greatest thing since sliced bread(panera). Even tire wear is for city busses and the elderly.
